The Korea International Exhibition Center (Kintex) is expanding its overseas venue-management operations, with its convention centre projects in India and Malaysia turning profitable while strengthening its position in the global MICE industry.
The venue operator’s overseas experience reflects a focus on adapting operations to the characteristics of each market and building events around the local industrial ecosystem.
Lee Min-woo, CEO, Kintex said, “An operator’s job is to understand a venue’s character and the industrial base around it, then turn that into events and stable operations. What we learned in India and Malaysia will be a key asset in helping new venues, starting with Jamsil, settle in early.”
Kintex’s experience across India and Malaysia is also expected to support its approach to upcoming venue projects in South Korea. Lee said the lessons from its international operations could play a role in establishing new venues and building stable operations from the early stages.
