Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 is set to take place from September 24 to 27 at Tokyo Big Sight, bringing destinations, tourism organisations, travel companies and industry stakeholders together around the theme ‘The Changing Nature of Travel’.
Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 will bring the global tourism industry together in Tokyo from September 24 to 27, with the 12th edition of the event focusing on how technology, changing lifestyles and evolving traveller preferences are shaping the future of tourism. The event will be held at Tokyo Big Sight and is organised by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association, Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
The first two days, September 24 and 25, are dedicated to trade and press, while September 26 and 27 will be open to the public. The exhibition brings together stakeholders across outbound, inbound and domestic tourism, while also creating opportunities for regional tourism promotion and new business development.
A Focus on the Changing Nature of Travel
This year’s theme, ‘The Changing Nature of Travel’, reflects the shifts taking place across the tourism sector. The programme will explore areas including digital technology, sustainable travel and changing travel styles, while giving visitors an opportunity to experience destinations, cultures, food and tourism experiences from Japan and around the world.
The exhibition covers a broad range of tourism segments, including destinations, travel agencies, OTAs and ICT companies, hotels and accommodation, aviation and transportation, as well as companies working across inbound and outbound tourism.
Business Meetings at the Centre
Business networking will be an important part of the four-day event. Tourism EXPO Japan offers both walk-in meetings at exhibitor booths and its reserved business-meeting programme, where buyers and sellers are matched in advance for scheduled discussions.
The 2025 edition saw 1,350 companies and organisations from 82 countries and regions participate, highlighting the scale of the international tourism network that the exhibition has built.
Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 will also be held alongside VISIT JAPAN Travel & MICE Mart 2026 and Travel Solutions Exhibition 2026, further expanding the business and tourism ecosystem at the venue.
India at Tourism EXPO Japan
India will also have a presence at the exhibition. The official exhibitor directory lists Incredible India at Booth G-28, with organisations including Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation, J&K Tourism Department, Meghalaya Tourism and Shikhar Travels participating as co-exhibitors. Rajasthan Tourism is also listed separately at Booth G-38.
The participation comes as the Ministry of Tourism continues to use international travel exhibitions to showcase India’s tourism destinations and products and build connections with overseas tourism stakeholders. The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) had also invited its members to participate in the India Pavilion at Tourism EXPO Japan 2026.
Beyond the Exhibition Floor
The event will also feature industry discussions and tourism-focused programmes. One of the key sessions is the 9th TEJ Ministerial Roundtable, scheduled for September 24, which will focus on ‘Reimagining the Future of Tourism – Investment Strategies for Regenerative Tourism’. The session will bring together tourism ministers and representatives from international tourism organisations.
Another key programme is the 10th Japan Tourism Awards, which recognises initiatives contributing to tourism development, local communities, sustainability, innovation and productivity. A Prime Minister’s Award has been introduced for the 2026 edition.
With destinations, airlines, hospitality companies, travel businesses and tourism organisations coming together, Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 is positioned as a platform for both business exchange and consumer engagement, while reflecting the changing ways in which people discover, experience and connect with destinations.
