Sennheiser Becomes Official Sound Provider of Formula E

Formula E and global audio specialist Sennheiser have announced a multi-year partnership that will see Sennheiser become the Official Sound Provider of Formula E, bringing advanced professional audio solutions and AMBEO immersive audio technology to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The partnership aims to explore new ways of capturing and delivering the excitement, energy and emotion of electric racing. Sennheiser’s audio technologies will be integrated across Formula E’s global series, with a focus on creating more immersive experiences for fans watching the races across different devices.

As the first all-electric FIA World Championship, Formula E has continued to place technology and innovation at the heart of its sporting experience. Through the collaboration, both organisations will explore advanced audio capture and encoding workflows designed to bring viewers closer to the action and establish new benchmarks for live sports broadcasting and fan engagement.

Dan Cherowbrier, CTO, Formula E said, “Innovation and technology are at the core of Formula E, and Sennheiser is the perfect partner to help us redefine the audio landscape of our championship. Their professional audio technologies and workflows, particularly the AMBEO immersive ecosystem, provide a uniquely dynamic setting to explore the future of sound in racing. This collaboration is a vital proof point in how we connect real-world audio innovation with practical application, bringing fans closer to the action through natural, three-dimensional sound.”

A key focus of the partnership will be the use of AMBEO, Sennheiser’s immersive audio technology and solutions ecosystem. The technology will support the capture, processing and reproduction of three-dimensional sound, helping create a more engaging representation of the racing environment for audiences.

Andreas Sennheiser, CEO of the Sennheiser Group said, “Formula E represents exactly the kind of environment where meaningful innovation happens. At Sennheiser, we are driven by the ambition to bring advanced audio technologies into real-world applications, and this collaboration gives us an exciting opportunity to rethink the role sound can play in electric racing. Great visuals deserve equally compelling sound, and we see real potential to define the sport’s unique acoustic character through dynamic in-car and trackside soundscapes. Ultimately, this partnership is about learning, exploring and helping to shape the future of how live sport is experienced.”

The technical collaboration will extend across Formula E’s broadcast and trackside operations. AMBEO will play an important role in exploring how natural, three-dimensional audio can enhance the way fans experience the championship.

Kai Detlefsen, Manager, AMBEO at Sennheiser said, “AMBEO enables the capture, processing and reproduction of natural, three-dimensional sound, supporting more immersive and emotionally engaging listening experiences. Within Formula E, AMBEO solutions will allow viewers at home to feel more closely connected to the dynamic racing environment and to their favourite teams.”

The partnership will also extend beyond the broadcast experience, with Sennheiser’s technology set to enhance Formula E’s onsite fan zones and VIP hospitality. The collaboration reflects Formula E’s continued focus on using technology and innovation to create a more immersive and connected experience for its global audience.
