Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) has appointed Bikram Basu as its Group Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer, effective August 1. The appointment comes as the company strengthens its leadership team and focuses on driving marketing and innovation across the organisation.
Basu currently serves as Managing Director of ABD Maestro Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. Along with his new group-level responsibilities, he will continue to oversee the operations of ABD Maestro. He will also be designated as Senior Management Personnel (SMP).
The appointment has resulted in a change in the company’s reporting structure. Pradipta Basu, who was appointed Chief Marketing Officer and designated as SMP on April 15, 2026, will cease to be classified as Senior Management Personnel with effect from July 31. He will, however, continue in his role as Chief Marketing Officer.
Bikram Basu brings more than three decades of experience in the alcoholic beverages industry. Prior to joining ABD nearly 11 years ago, he spent 14 years with Pernod Ricard India and six years with United Spirits. During his career, he has held leadership positions across business strategy, brand strategy, marketing and sales.
According to the company, several market-leading brands in India have been developed under his leadership.
Basu has also been associated with the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) for over a decade. He served as Vice-Chairman between 2015 and 2018 and currently serves on the organisation’s board.
He is a commerce graduate from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, holds an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, and has completed an executive development programme at INSEAD.
With his extensive experience across the alcoholic beverages sector, Basu will take on a broader role at ABD, overseeing the company’s marketing and innovation efforts at the group level while continuing to lead ABD Maestro.
