Privacy is becoming the new luxury. Personal stories are replacing spectacle, and behind every memorable celebration is an ecosystem of planners, designers, photographers, venues and hospitality partners working seamlessly together.
July 2026 offered a glimpse into this evolution. Within a few weeks, four celebrity weddings captured the industry’s attention, each reflecting a distinct yet connected shift in how luxury celebrations are being imagined and executed. Aamir Khan’s intimate third wedding to Gauri Spratt embraced discretion over display. Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s celebration became a masterclass in collaborative storytelling. Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor and Sharan Sharma transformed a family home into an enchanting botanical retreat, while Jennifer Winget and William Ishmael showcased how destination weddings can deliver timeless elegance through thoughtful design rather than excess.
Though each celebration had its own identity, they shared common threads: intimate guest lists, meaningful storytelling, elevated hospitality and seamless collaboration. Together, they offer valuable insights into where India’s luxury wedding industry is headed.
Aamir Khan & Gauri Spratt
When Privacy Became the Ultimate Luxury
Actor Aamir Khan married Gauri Spratt in an intimate ceremony on July 5, marking his third marriage after Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. In stark contrast to the elaborate celebrity weddings that often dominate headlines, the celebration remained intentionally private, attended only by close family members and a handful of friends.

While very little about the ceremony entered the public domain, the wedding reflected one of the strongest shifts in the luxury wedding market. High-profile clients are increasingly choosing privacy over publicity, with confidential guest management, discreet venues, enhanced security and personalised hospitality taking precedence over large-scale productions. For planners and event professionals, Aamir Khan’s wedding serves as a reminder that today’s most exclusive celebrations are often the ones the public sees the least.

Anshula Kapoor & Rohan Thakkar
A Masterclass in Storytelling, Collaboration and Invisible Luxury
Unlike many celebrity weddings that remain behind closed doors, Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s wedding at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, on July 6 offered the industry a rare look at the creative ecosystem behind a luxury celebration. Every creative decision, from planning and design to photography and guest experience, was rooted in the couple’s story, demonstrating how meaningful luxury is created through collaboration rather than scale.

Designing a Celebration That Felt Like Home
For The Wedding Square, the objective was never to create an extravagant celebrity wedding. Instead, the team focused on building a celebration that felt deeply personal while honouring the couple’s journey and family traditions.
As Shweta Mehta, Co-Founder & Creative Director at The Wedding Square, explains: “The vision was to create celebrations that felt like an extension of their home, while beautifully weaving in the presence of Anshula’s mother. Every design decision was rooted in authenticity, ensuring the décor reflected the couple’s personalities, their shared story, and their Gujarati and Punjabi heritage.”
That vision came to life through thoughtful details including a restored jharokha from Anshula’s childhood home, a draped dupatta inspired by her late mother and a memory wall dedicated to both families. For the cocktail celebration, the team created a carousel-inspired bar that became the evening’s centrepiece, while engineering challenges and overnight venue transformations required close coordination across design, production, florals, lighting, planning and the venue.

Planning Beyond the Visible
Behind the seamless celebrations was months of planning by Shreem Events, who navigated relentless Mumbai monsoon rains, heightened security, guest movement, media presence and multiple last-minute logistical changes without disrupting the guest experience.
Reflecting on the journey, Devanshi Patel, Founder of Shreem Events, says: “Planning Anshula and Rohan’s wedding was an incredibly fulfilling journey because every celebration was deeply rooted in their story. From our very first conversation, our intention was to create an experience that felt personal, intimate and authentic to who they are, while ensuring every guest felt genuinely welcomed and cared for.”
Despite the operational complexity, Devanshi believes the hallmark of luxury lies in what guests never notice. “For us, true luxury lies in making complexity invisible. Guests should remember the emotions, the celebrations and the joy, not the thousands of decisions being made quietly in the background.”
She also credits the success of the celebrations to collaboration, noting that luxury weddings are built through professionals coming together with a shared commitment to excellence rather than the efforts of a single team.

Preserving Moments That Matter
For Epic Stories, the goal extended far beyond beautiful imagery.
Founder Himanshu Patel explains: “Documenting Anshula Kapoor’s and Rohan Thakkar’s wedding was a reminder that the most memorable celebrations are not defined by their scale but by the emotions they hold. Our approach remained the same as it does with every couple, to create a visual story that feels honest, intimate and true to who they are.”
Rather than directing every frame, the team focused on genuine moments that unfolded naturally, from quiet smiles exchanged before ceremonies to emotional interactions between Anshula and her brother, Arjun Kapoor.
As Himanshu reflects: “Wedding photography has never been about creating perfect pictures alone. It’s about preserving a family’s history. Public conversations around a wedding eventually fade, but the photographs remain with the couple and their loved ones for generations.”

Together, Shreem Events, The Wedding Square and Epic Stories demonstrated how luxury weddings today are built on storytelling, trust and collaboration, creating experiences that feel effortless for guests while requiring extraordinary expertise behind the scenes.
Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor & Sharan Sharma
An Enchanted Garden Celebration Rooted in Intimacy
If Anshula Kapoor’s wedding celebrated emotional storytelling, actor Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor and filmmaker Sharan Sharma‘s celebration on July 11 demonstrated how immersive guest experiences are becoming central to modern luxury weddings. Hosted at the Kapoor residence before culminating in a reception at JW Marriott Mumbai, the celebrations blended botanical design, elevated hospitality and intimate entertainment to create an experience that felt both sophisticated and deeply personal.
Rather than relying on visual excess, the wedding embraced restraint. Designed by Do It Up with venue styling by National Decorators, cascading greenery, white florals, crystal chandeliers and candlelit pathways transformed familiar spaces into an elegant garden-inspired celebration, proving that thoughtful design often leaves a greater impression than grandeur.

Nature-Led Design Meets Curated Hospitality
Designed by Do It Up, the wedding transformed the family residence into a lush botanical haven with cascading greenery, white florals, crystal chandeliers and candlelit pathways, while National Decorators ensured every installation blended seamlessly with the surroundings rather than overpowering them.
Hospitality was equally immersive. Curated by Speciality Experiences, guests enjoyed artisanal grazing stations, gourmet live counters and an elegant multi-course dining experience before ending the evening with a nostalgic late-night serving of Maggi and French fries. The celebration also featured handwritten vows, heartfelt speeches and an acoustic performance by Bors Bey, creating an atmosphere that felt warm, personal and experience-led rather than extravagant.

Fashion reflected the same balance of tradition and contemporary elegance. Akanksha wore a custom red sari by Arpita Mehta for the ceremony before changing into Gaurav Gupta’s sculptural Molten Crystal Lehenga for the reception, styled by Ami Patel and Tanya Mehta. Captured by Naman Verma Photography, the celebration demonstrated how cohesive design, elevated hospitality and meaningful entertainment can create a memorable luxury wedding without relying on scale.
Jennifer Winget & William Ishmael
A Welsh Destination Wedding Defined by Timeless Elegance
Destination weddings continue to evolve beyond picturesque backdrops, with couples increasingly looking for locations that become an integral part of the guest experience. Television actor Jennifer Winget, who married businessman William Ishmael embraced this philosophy with an intimate celebration at Tyglyn Weddings, Wales, on July 16, allowing the venue’s historic charm and surrounding countryside to shape the celebration rather than competing with it.

Letting the Destination Lead the Experience
Instead of transforming the venue with grand installations, the creative team worked in harmony with its surroundings. Soft white florals, lush greenery and elegant styling complemented the Welsh countryside, creating a celebration that felt timeless, intimate and effortlessly sophisticated.
Jennifer’s bridal look reflected the same understated elegance. She wore a classic white ball gown by Karleo Fashion, paired with jewellery from Ekatra Jewels, while Manny Samra and stylist Vinita Makhija completed the look with refined hair, makeup and styling. The celebration was beautifully documented by Katy Tainton Photography, whose imagery captured the romance of the destination and the intimacy of the occasion.

For destination wedding professionals, the celebration reinforced that exceptional venues don’t need dramatic transformation. When architecture, landscape, design and hospitality work together, the destination itself becomes part of the storytelling, creating an experience that feels authentic, immersive and effortlessly luxurious.
The Bigger Picture
From Aamir Khan’s private ceremony to Anshula Kapoor’s emotionally layered celebration, Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor’s immersive garden wedding and Jennifer Winget’s elegant destination affair, July 2026 reflected a decisive shift in India’s luxury wedding landscape. Across each celebration, intimacy replaced extravagance, storytelling shaped design, hospitality became an experience in itself and collaboration emerged as the defining force behind flawless execution. For the events and wedding industry, these weren’t just celebrity weddings; they were a glimpse into the future of luxury celebrations, where authenticity, emotion and collective creativity matter far more than spectacle.
