The Indie Circle Songwriting Camp, organised by Sony Music Publishing, IPRS, and the Chandigarh Citizen Foundation (CCF), with Jugnu Music as the label partner, concluded with the Indie Circle Music Showcase – World Music Day Celebration in Chandigarh.
Held from June 18–20, 2026, the songwriting camp culminated in the showcase on June 21, bringing together more than 20 emerging artists from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The initiative focused on celebrating the “music of the heartland” by blending contemporary songwriting with the region’s folk traditions and storytelling heritage.
Participants were mentored by Mellow D, Navi Ferozpurwala and Simiran Kaur Dhadli, while also taking part in educational sessions on copyright, publishing, creator rights, royalties and music monetisation.
The programme aimed to strengthen awareness around creator rights and support independent artists in building sustainable careers. Leadership from IPRS, Sony Music Publishing and the Chandigarh Citizen Foundation highlighted the importance of regional music development, music education and empowering creators.
Original compositions developed during the camp are set to be released through Jugnu Music, showcasing the complete journey from music creation to commercial release.
The initiative also reinforces IPRS’ continued focus on promoting regional music, increasing awareness around copyright and royalties, preserving cultural heritage, and supporting the growth of India’s independent music ecosystem.
