Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has acquired the exclusive media rights for the 23rd Commonwealth Games, strengthening its portfolio of premium multi-sport properties ahead of the 2026 edition of the Games.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Under the agreement, the event will be broadcast live across Sony Sports Network channels and streamed on Sony LIV throughout the Indian subcontinent.
India enters the Glasgow Games on the back of a strong showing at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where the country secured 61 medals, including 22 gold medals, to finish fourth in the overall medal standings. The performance marked one of India’s strongest outings at the event, with expectations high for another successful campaign led by a mix of emerging athletes and experienced competitors.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will feature a compact, athlete-focused format comprising ten sports and an integrated Para sport programme with 47 medal events across six sports. The competition will include Athletics, Swimming, Artistic Gymnastics, Track Cycling, Netball, Weightlifting, Boxing, Judo, Bowls and 3×3 Basketball.
SPNI said it will provide multilingual coverage, expert analysis and comprehensive programming throughout the Games, covering key moments from the opening ceremony to medal events across disciplines.
