India and China are taking steps to enhance cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation as part of broader efforts to strengthen people-to-people connections between the two countries.
According to online reports, Pratik Mathur, India’s Consul General in Shanghai, recently held discussions with a Chinese cultural official to explore opportunities for greater collaboration in culture and tourism, particularly in eastern China.
As part of his engagements, Mathur also interacted with a cross-section of Friends of India, reflecting ongoing efforts to further strengthen India’s growing profile in eastern China and deepen cultural and diaspora linkages between the two nations.
The meetings were aimed at promoting mutual understanding and expanding cultural engagement between India and China through tourism, heritage, and community-driven initiatives.
During the engagements, Mathur met Zhang Jiaxing, Chief Executive Officer of the Guoyun Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre, where discussions focused on cultural cooperation and opportunities for future exchanges.
The initiative underscores the importance both countries place on strengthening cultural diplomacy and fostering closer people-to-people ties through tourism and heritage-related collaborations.
