NMPA Indian Open of Surfing 2026 Gains Major Backing from Brands and Government Bodies

With Indian surfing gearing up for its historic debut at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in September, the seventh edition of the NMPA Indian Open of Surfing 2026 has secured strong support from leading corporate brands and government bodies ahead of the championship.

Scheduled to take place from May 29 to 31, 2026, at Blue Bay Eco Beach in Tannirbhavi, the championship will be organised by the Surfing Swami Foundation and Mantra Surf Club under the aegis of the Surfing Federation of India.

The New Mangalore Port Authority has returned as the Title Sponsor for the third consecutive year, continuing its support towards the growth of surfing and coastal sports in the region. Cycle Agarbatti and skincare brand deconstruct have joined as Gold Sponsors, with deconstruct also serving as the Official SPF Partner for the event. The Karnataka Tourism Department, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, and the Karnataka Surfing Association are also supporting the championship, while Northern Sky has come on board as the Venue Partner.

The championship remains one of the key events on India’s national surfing calendar and is expected to play an important role in preparations for the Asian Games later this year. The event will also serve as a competitive platform for surfers aiming to secure places in India’s contingent for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.

Indian surfing has seen significant growth in recent years, with Indian surfers securing the country’s first-ever qualification quotas for the Asian Games and delivering strong performances at international competitions such as the Asian Surfing Championships. Events like the NMPA Indian Open of Surfing are continuing to contribute towards the development of India’s competitive surfing ecosystem.
