At a time when the hospitality industry is often defined by expansion, occupancy and scale, The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group is shaping a different narrative — one centred around inclusion, dignity, skilling and community-building. Rooted in Indian values and a people-first philosophy, the Group continues to position hospitality not just as a business, but as a larger force for social impact and nation-building.
Over the years, the Group has touched more than 1 million lives and directly supported over 300,000 individuals through initiatives focused on education, employment, healthcare, inclusion and skill development. This philosophy of “hospitality with a heart” remains central to The LaLiT’s identity and operations across India.
The Group today is India’s largest private-sector employer of transgender persons, with over 250 transgender employees working across different roles. Through 13 LGBTQIA+ job fairs, the organisation has reached more than 10,000 jobseekers and facilitated over 1,500 direct placements. In addition, the Group has supported over 500 persons with disabilities and more than 50 acid attack survivors through dedicated livelihood and inclusion programmes.
A key focus area for The LaLiT has been creating opportunities within local communities through destination-led skilling initiatives across Khajuraho, Bekal, Mangar and Goa. The Group’s approach is centred on developing local talent connected directly to tourism and hospitality economies, helping generate employment opportunities closer to home.
This commitment is further reflected through The LaLiT Suri Hospitality School, which focuses on building a future-ready workforce for the hospitality industry. Along with technical training, the institution places emphasis on communication, professionalism, empathy and practical industry exposure.
In partnership with Hotel Association of India (HAI), the school is also working towards bridging the gap between hospitality education and industry expectations by strengthening skilling pathways, practical training and overall industry readiness for young professionals.
The Group’s wider skilling ecosystem has already trained more than 3,000 LGBTQIA+ individuals through PrideKraft and over 70 young individuals through the Emerging Queer Leaders in Hospitality programme. In collaboration with the Keshav Suri Foundation, more than 350 individuals have participated in vocational and creative workshops, while over 200 placements have been facilitated. Additionally, more than 75 scholarships have been awarded to students from diverse communities, including LGBTQIA+ youth, persons with disabilities and neurodivergent individuals.
During the pandemic, The LaLiT extended its support beyond hospitality operations by repurposing hotel infrastructure to assist doctors and frontline workers, while also facilitating meal distribution, PPE support and vaccination drives across communities.
The Group’s journey reflects a broader Indian philosophy of hospitality — one where service is rooted in empathy and growth is measured not only through business success, but also through the livelihoods created and lives impacted. In an increasingly global luxury landscape, The LaLiT continues to stand apart through its deeply Indian and inclusive approach to hospitality.
