Shagun Seda Joins Apple India as Head of Marketing Communications

Shagun Seda is set to join Apple India as Head of Marketing Communications, marking a key leadership development in the country’s marketing and communications space, according to media reports.

Seda will be moving into this role following her exit from JioStar, where she most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Brand Strategy & Marcom. Her appointment at Apple India has been reported following her recent departure from the organisation.

At JioStar, she was part of the senior leadership team driving brand strategy and marketing communications for the newly formed entity created after the integration of Viacom18 and Star India. The company, backed by Reliance and Disney, operates a large-scale media ecosystem spanning digital and television, reaching over 450 million monthly active users.

During her tenure, Seda led marketing communications and creative strategy across major sports and entertainment properties such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), ICC tournaments, Pro Kabaddi League, Wimbledon, and the Olympics. She also contributed to high-profile cultural and experiential campaigns, including the livestreaming of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour in India.

She played a key role in driving the marketing strategy for IPL 2025 across TV and digital platforms, contributing to one of the most watched seasons of the tournament with an estimated combined audience of around one billion viewers. She was also involved in digital-first initiatives such as streaming major Indian festivals like Mahashivratri and Ram Navami on JioHotstar.

Before joining JioStar, Seda was associated with Netflix India as Head of Brand, Film and Series Marketing, where she worked on strengthening the platform’s cultural relevance in India. Her campaigns for titles including Money Heist and Stranger Things helped boost engagement and subscriber growth.

She has also held leadership roles at DDB Mudra Group, TBWA India, and MullenLowe Lintas Group, where she built expertise in combining storytelling with business outcomes.

Her move to Apple India comes as the company continues to expand its focus on the Indian market, with growing emphasis on both consumer engagement and operational expansion.
