SSFL National Camp 2026 Concludes in Anand, Strengthening India’s Grassroots Football Pathway

The STAIRS School Football League (SSFL) National Camp 2026, organised by the STAIRS Foundation (Society for Transformation, Inclusion and Recognition through Sports), concluded successfully from April 7 to 9 at the CVM Football Ground in V.V. Nagar, Anand. Hosted by CVM Football Club under the aegis of CVM University, the three-day camp brought together some of the most promising young footballers from across India, reinforcing the league’s commitment to strengthening grassroots football development in the country.

SSFL 2026 witnessed participation from over 50,000 players across 12 states and 29 cities, making it one of the country’s largest football scouting initiatives. Following a detailed nationwide selection process, the top 100 players were invited to the National Camp, where 20 standout players were shortlisted for advanced football opportunities.

The camp was led by international footballer David Forde, former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, who mentored the players and shared global insights from his professional journey. Speaking to the players, he shared, “Football demands dedication, discipline, and mental strength. Even if you are not selected today, come back stronger.”

Siddhartha Upadhyay, Founder & President, STAIRS Foundation, said, “SSFL is not just a tournament—it’s a pathway that connects grassroots football to bigger opportunities at national and international levels.”

Mehul Patel, Joint Secretary, CVM University & President, Anand DFA, said, “We are proud to host this event. It creates great exposure for players from this region and beyond.”

Gopal Kag, Director of Football, CVM Football Club, said, “SSFL has become a strong platform for young footballers. We are happy to host this national camp and support players in taking the next step in their journey.”

The closing ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Shakti Chouhan, well-known football commentator and coach educator. Addressing the players, he said, “In football, you never lose—you either win or you learn. Stay consistent and keep working hard.” Madhavan Jaju, Director at Padmesh Group, joined as Guest of Honour along with other members of the football community.

The camp opens doors for selected players to progress into structured football pathways, including the STAIRS Football Academy, CVM Football Club, and Youth I-League academies in India. A few players have also been identified for potential opportunities with CVM Football Club for the upcoming season.

The selection process was led by an experienced scouting panel comprising Anil Patel (UEFA A Licensed Coach), Prit Patel (AFC B Licensed Coach), and Moinuddin Khan (Former International Player & CVM FC Scout). With a strong focus on training, evaluation, and mentorship, the SSFL National Camp ensured the holistic development of players both on and off the field, continuing its mission to bridge grassroots talent with professional football opportunities in India.
