The Sikkim Arts and Literature Festival 2026, originally scheduled for April 26–28, has been postponed to October 2026. The new dates will be announced shortly by the organisers.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be visiting Sikkim on the same dates. Sikkim, sharing its borders with China, Bhutan, and Nepal, is among the most sensitive states in the country from a security standpoint. A visit of this national significance naturally calls for the highest level of security protocols across Gangtok. Our festival venue at Ridge Park sits in close proximity to the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s official residence and falls within a designated VVIP zone — making the infrastructure setup, movement of our guest speakers and writers, and the open, welcoming environment that SALF is built upon, simply not possible during this period.
The organisers have chosen October with great care – the monsoon will have passed, the skies above Kanchenjunga will be clear, and the Eastern Himalayas will be at their most beautiful. They believe it will be our finest edition yet.
