The world premiere of the musical “That’s Life” will be staged on April 18, 2026, at The Ark, Building Community at 7:00 PM. The event is being presented in support of El Shaddai, an organisation that works with underprivileged children.
“That’s Life” is an original musical that explores themes of love, identity and human connection. The production is set in a stylised environment that blends elements from different time periods, combining vintage aesthetics inspired by the 1930s and 1940s with contemporary settings and references.
The musical has been created, written, and composed by Ash Chandler and Mariia Chandler. Ash Chandler is known for his work across film, theatre and music, while Mariia Chandler brings experience in theatre, dance and music, along with an international performance background.
The narrative centres on two characters, Louis and Margaret, whose lives intersect in a setting that moves across imagined locations such as Central Park and Victoria Peak. The story unfolds through a combination of music, choreography and dialogue.
The production is directed by Keith Antony Sequeira. The creative team also includes music arrangement and production by Aviv Perreira, choreography by Sonia David, visual effects and LED set design by Dishkyao Films and costume design by the creators.
The concept for the musical originated during the pandemic, drawing from the personal experiences of its creators. The production integrates live music, performance and stage design to present a cohesive theatrical format.
The premiere is positioned as both a cultural event and a fundraising initiative, with proceeds supporting the work of El Shaddai. The event is open to audiences through prior booking.
