Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has unveiled the “Hong Kong Mega 8” campaign, spotlighting eight world-class mega events across arts, pop culture, sports, and citywide cultural programmes taking place through March and April. The initiative is designed to showcase Hong Kong’s vibrant neighbourhood arts scenes while strengthening its identity as the “Events Capital of Asia.”
Dr. Peter Lam, HKTB Chairman, said, “Through the ‘Hong Kong Mega 8’ campaign, HKTB has brought together highlighted art and sports mega events and citywide programmes to fully showcase Hong Kong’s strengths as the ‘Events Capital of Asia’. For the first time, HKTB is partnering with Art Basel to bring digital arts into local neighbourhoods. We would like to thank Hongkong Land for its strong support, which allow us to bring world class public art to the heart of Central. We will also work with our trade partners in various sectors to launch and promote the city’s diversified travel experiences. Our aim is to maximise the economic benefits of mega events by enhancing the visitor experience, encouraging them to extend their stay in Hong Kong, and creating more business opportunities for the local travel trade and related sectors.”
A key highlight of the campaign is the collaboration with Art Basel Hong Kong, which brings its global digital art initiative “Zero 10” to Asia for the first time. The showcase features cutting-edge digital artworks based on code, light, and sound. South Korean digital artist DeeKay will present his works as part of this sector.
Extending the experience beyond the exhibition halls, HKTB and Art Basel are launching Digital Art @Central, projecting DeeKay’s animation artwork DeePle the People onto the façade of the Hong Kong Club Building from 24 to 29 March. The large-scale public projection transforms Central into an immersive digital art space, depicting a lively Hong Kong street scene populated with characters inspired by dragon boat paddlers, jockeys, chefs, and performers.
To help visitors explore the city’s cultural landscape, HKTB has partnered with Art Central to introduce the digital “Hong Kong Art Month Discovery Guide.” The guide compiles exhibitions, museum showcases, performances, and dining recommendations across Central, Sheung Wan, Wan Chai, Tai Hang, the Southern District, Tsim Sha Tsui, and the West Kowloon Cultural District, encouraging deeper cultural exploration.
Neighbourhood activations further enhance the experience. ArtHouse Tai Hang 2026 transforms ten historic houses into a hub of pop-up art, dining, talks, and performances. Meanwhile, Hongkong Land presents Art Walk in Central, featuring guided tours, public art encounters, and an interactive installation by artist Ayako Rokkaku at LANDMARK Atrium, culminating in an open-air street celebration on Chater Road on 29 March.
At the West Kowloon Cultural District, M+ presents major exhibitions including Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now and Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker. The Hong Kong Palace Museum showcases Heavenly Horses: Masterpieces from the Palace Museum as part of its Year of the Horse celebrations. The district also hosts WestK FunFest with over 120 family-friendly arts experiences.
Additional marquee events include Art Walk in Central, Art Central 2026 at Central Harbourfront, and Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, ensuring that visitors experience a citywide celebration of art and culture.
Through the “Mega 8” campaign, Hong Kong seamlessly connects global art showcases with local neighbourhood experiences, reinforcing its position as a dynamic destination where art, culture, and community converge.
