Mumbai witnessed an unexpected burst of colour, nostalgia, and cinematic energy as the city’s familiar landmarks briefly transformed into playful extensions of the Super Mario universe. In the lead-up to the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, streets, skylines, and fan spaces came alive with experiences that felt straight out of the iconic game world.
Spearheaded by Universal Pictures India and distributed by Warner Bros, the campaign reimagined Mumbai’s most recognisable cultural hotspots as high-energy celebration zones inspired by the beloved franchise.

The highlight of the rollout was an exclusive influencer watch party hosted at a sea-facing venue overlooking the iconic Bandra–Worli Sea Link. In a first-of-its-kind spectacle, artwork from the film was projected onto the landmark, creating the illusion of Mario taking over Mumbai’s skyline. The moment quickly became a social media talking point, offering fans a larger-than-life preview of the film’s vibrant world.
The celebration extended into fan communities through an immersive booth at Comic Con Pune on March 21 and 22, inviting attendees to step into Mario’s colourful universe through interactive, shareable experiences.
Adding a street-level cultural touch, a vibrant mural in Sion brought the playful nostalgia of the franchise into everyday city life, turning a regular neighbourhood corner into a striking visual tribute.
