Goa Budget 2026–27: ₹5 Crore Set Aside for International Music Concerts

In a significant move to further enhance Goa’s cultural and entertainment landscape, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced an allocation of ₹5 crore in the Goa State Budget 2026–27 for organising international artist concerts across the state. The announcement was made during the formal budget presentation in the Goa Legislative Assembly, reflecting the government’s intent to position Goa as a global cultural and entertainment destination.

According to official social media posts and local media reports, this funding will be utilised to attract internationally recognised performers and create high-profile live music events that contribute both to tourism growth and the state’s cultural vibrancy. Alongside this, the budget also includes provisions to establish a plug-and-play concert centre, offering a ready-to-use, state-of-the-art venue for large-scale events and performances without delays related to temporary infrastructure.

Goa has long been known for its vibrant nightlife, beach culture, and year-round festivals that draw visitors from across India and abroad. The addition of dedicated funding for international concerts marks a renewed push by the government to diversify the state’s tourism offerings beyond its traditional strengths in beaches and festivals.

The new concert centre — described by officials as “plug-and-play” — is expected to provide:

  • Professional infrastructure for large concerts and music festivals.
  • Reliable facilities that reduce logistical challenges faced by event organisers.
  • A centralised venue designed to attract international promoters and artists.

Tourism and cultural sector stakeholders have welcomed the move, seeing the concerts as a way to increase footfall during leaner travel months and elevate Goa’s reputation as not just a leisure destination but a hub for live entertainment.

The announcement comes as part of a broader vision outlined in the Goa Budget 2026–27, which includes investments across infrastructure, welfare schemes, and cultural programmes aimed at boosting economic activity and quality of life in the state. The ₹5 crore earmarked for international concerts forms a comparatively small but high-visibility part of the total budgetary expenditure.

While detailed implementation plans — such as the exact location of the concert centre, event calendars, and partner agencies — are still being finalised, the initiative signals Goa’s ambition to retain its cultural edge and attract global music events in the coming years.
