Gurugram Comic Con Debuts with 22,000+ Footfall, Marks Strong Entry into Millennium City

Gurugram witnessed its first-ever Comic Con as Gurugram Comic Con wrapped up its debut edition at Gym Khana Club Ground, drawing over 22,000 attendees across two days. Presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, the event brought together comic readers, anime enthusiasts, gamers, and pop culture fans, highlighting the city’s growing appetite for fandom-driven experiences.

Held on March 14–15, the festival transformed the venue into a vibrant hub of activity, featuring artist alleys, graphic novel showcases, collectible merchandise, gaming zones, and live stage programming. Attendees, including young professionals, students, and creators, engaged with immersive brand experiences and interactive sessions throughout the weekend.

The creators’ stage emerged as a key attraction, hosting sessions with renowned artists such as internationally acclaimed comic artist Raymund Bermudez, alongside Indian illustrators and storytellers. Conversations around animation, including sessions with the team behind Mahavatar Narasimha, offered audiences insights into the evolving landscape of visual storytelling and mythology in modern formats.

Live entertainment added to the energy of the event, with music performances by artists including Ikka, Dharmik (Madhusubdhan Sharma), and Gini, alongside stand-up acts by comedians Jaspreet Singh and Onkar Yadav. The Comic Con Jukebox and Comedy Showcase drew enthusiastic crowds, blending fandom with music and humour.

Cosplay remained one of the biggest highlights, with over 250 participants bringing popular characters from anime, gaming, films, and comics to life. The Gurugram Comic Con Cosplay Contest attracted large audiences, while the Indian Championship of Cosplay – Gurugram Qualifier saw Vandana Sharma win the title, along with ₹50,000 and a spot at the ICC Finals 2026.

The NODWIN Gaming Arena was another major draw, offering competitive and interactive gaming experiences, while brand zones by Maruti Suzuki Arena and Crunchyroll engaged fans through curated activities and installations.

Shefali Johnson, CEO, Comic Con India said, “Gurugram is a city full of energy. During the week people are busy building companies, working across global teams, and moving between offices in Cyber City and along Golf Course Road. This weekend we saw many of those same people come together as anime fans, gamers, comic readers, and cosplayers. Watching superheroes and anime characters walk through the Millennium City created some really special moments for all of us. A large part of the Comic Con India team works out of Gurugram, so bringing the festival here for the first time felt very personal. The warmth and enthusiasm from the community has been wonderful to see, and it gives us a lot of excitement about growing Gurugram Comic Con in the years ahead.”

Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director, NODWIN Gaming said, “Gurugram is home for us at NODWIN Gaming, so bringing Comic Con here felt incredibly personal. Our headquarters is in this city, and over the weekend it genuinely felt like the entire extended NODWIN family showed up, colleagues, friends, partners, and families all coming together to experience Gurugram’s grandest pop culture celebration. Even my own family spent a good part of the day at the festival and had a great time soaking it all in. Seeing Comic Con come alive in the same city where we built NODWIN made this first Gurugram edition a really special moment for our entire team.”

With its successful debut, Gurugram Comic Con has established itself as a promising addition to the city’s cultural calendar, setting the stage for larger editions in the future.
