Gateway of India Lights Up for India-France Year of Innovation 2026 with Public Video Mapping Show Until February 22

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly launched the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 at the Gateway of India, marking a significant milestone in the two countries’ Special Global Strategic Partnership.

The launch ceremony, held at the iconic Mumbai landmark, was highlighted by a large-scale video mapping and lighting show that transformed the Gateway of India into a dynamic canvas celebrating innovation, shared values and cultural heritage. The visual spectacle emerged as one of the key highlights of the event, drawing attention from attendees and the wider public.

As part of the commemorative celebrations, residents of Mumbai have been invited to witness the special video mapping show at the monument. The screenings are being held daily until February 22, with free shows scheduled every 30 minutes between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM.

The immersive projection display showcases the theme of the India-France Year of Innovation through light, colour and digital storytelling, attracting visitors to the historic waterfront site. Organisers described the initiative as an effort to bring the spirit of innovation closer to citizens and make the bilateral celebration more accessible to the public.

The launch event was attended by business leaders, innovators, start-up representatives and researchers from both countries, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration in technology, research and sustainable development.
