Via Veda Hosts Landmark Maha Shivratri Bhajan Jamming Night at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Drawing Thousands

The grounds of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium were transformed into a large-scale devotional gathering as Via Veda hosted what it described as the Biggest Maha Shivratri Bhajan Jamming Night, drawing thousands of attendees for an evening of music and spiritual observance.

Marking the occasion of Maha Shivratri, the event blended devotional traditions with contemporary staging and sound design. Organizers said the evening brought together participants across generations, from college students to elderly attendees, for a shared spiritual experience.

Proceedings began at 6 PM with the lighting of the Ganga Aarti flame, setting the tone for the night’s programming. The atmosphere shifted from a conventional public event to a coordinated devotional gathering as attendees joined in chants and prayers dedicated to Shiva and Parvati.

Musical performances formed the core of the event. Suhas Sawant performed a rendition of “Jai Mahakaal,” while Gajendra Pratap Singh led the audience in devotional tracks including “Kailash Mein Niwasi” and “Dulha Bane Hai Baba.” The stadium echoed with collective chants of “Om Namah Shivaya,” as attendees raised their hands and participated in synchronized singing.

Organizers described the format as “Bhajan Clubbing,” combining traditional bhajans with amplified live instrumentation and contemporary sound arrangements. The stage production and lighting effects accompanied the devotional performances, creating a large-scale, immersive environment under the open sky.

Attendees were distributed Vibhuti from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and 5 Mukhi Siddh Rudraksha from the Pashupatinath Temple. Prasad boxes were also provided. In addition, participants received a Rs 100 wallet balance for astrology consultations on the Via Veda app and web platforms, extending the engagement beyond the physical event. The gathering was open to individuals aged 10 and above.

At the center of the initiative was Kajal Bihani, Founder of Via Veda, who addressed the significance of the evening. She said, “To every soul who stood with us under the stars, thank you. You were the heart of the night. Watching thousands of you find yourselves in the chant, I realised this was a moment where our collective energy became a bridge to the divine. My heart is full seeing how beautifully our ancient roots can beat alongside our modern lives. This is the future I have always imagined, where we walk our spiritual paths together, side by side, into the light.”

As midnight chants concluded, the event closed on a subdued note, with attendees dispersing after several hours of devotional music and collective participation. Organizers said the evening was designed to create a contemporary yet tradition-rooted format for observing Maha Shivratri in the capital.
