Uttar Pradesh Partners with BVG India to Develop Eco-Tourism Hub at Dudhwa National Park

Uttar Pradesh has entered into a partnership with BVG India and the Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board (UPETDB) to develop a new eco-tourism destination near Dudhwa National Park in the Lakhimpur Kheri district. The infrastructure for this project is being developed and managed at Chandan Chowki, with a focus on sustainable and nature-based tourism.

Under the collaboration, BVG India is constructing the BVG India Resort, an eco-friendly destination spread across five acres that will anchor the Chandan Chowki eco-tourism hub. The facility is expected to be fully operational by March 2026. Designed as a nature-led retreat centred on wellness and local culture, the resort will feature modern hospitality amenities, accommodation options, recreational facilities, food and beverage services, and spaces for small conferences and social events.

The project aims to offer visitors a holistic experience that blends wellness with wildlife exploration. BVG India will oversee the planning, design, development, financing, operations, and maintenance of the resort, along with securing necessary approvals and supporting marketing and promotional efforts.

Commenting on the development, Hanmantrao Gaikwad, Chairman of BVG India, said: “BVG India Resort is an expression of our belief that tourism must respect nature and create opportunities for local communities. Through this project near Dudhwa, we have sought to create a destination that allows visitors to experience the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness, while preserving what makes it unique. This is a long-term commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism in Uttar Pradesh.”

The destination will also include a dedicated space for Tharu tribal handicrafts, providing local artisans with an opportunity to showcase their traditional skills and benefit from tourism-led economic activity. Organic horticulture zones are planned as part of the resort experience, offering visitors insight into rural lifestyles and sustainable practices.

Located in the Terai region along the Indo-Nepal border, Dudhwa National Park is known for its rich biodiversity. It is one of the few protected areas in India where Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinoceroses coexist in the wild, along with endangered swamp deer and a wide variety of bird species. The park is also part of Project Tiger, reinforcing its importance in wildlife conservation.

With the development of the BVG India Resort at Chandan Chowki, Uttar Pradesh aims to strengthen its eco-tourism portfolio by integrating conservation, community participation, and quality tourism infrastructure.
