The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has announced the launch of Road to EWC, a global qualification program that will serve as the official pathway to the Esports World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 6 to August 23, 2026.
The Road to EWC 2026 program will feature more than 230 tournaments worldwide, spanning all major esports regions and competition tiers. The initiative brings together publisher-led leagues, elite international tournaments, and grassroots qualifiers into a single, season-long global calendar, creating a unified route for players and clubs to reach the Esports World Cup.
According to the Foundation, the program is designed to integrate multiple game ecosystems under one structured qualification season, offering clarity and continuity for players, teams, publishers, and fans. By aligning competitions across regions and titles, Road to EWC aims to support competitive integrity, long-term investment, and sustainable growth within the global esports industry.
“Road to EWC brings together the journeys that shape competitive esports. By creating a defined qualification season, it gives the whole industry the confidence to plan; players can focus on performance, Clubs can commit resources earlier, publishers can align their ecosystems, and fans know when and where the biggest moments will happen. If we keep building together, we will grow the sport in a way that is sustainable, inclusive and truly global,” said Faisal Bin Homran, Chief Product Officer of the Esports World Cup Foundation.
The qualification ecosystem will include established global circuits and premier tournaments across multiple titles, alongside official publisher esports programs. In addition, open online qualifiers and community competitions will be conducted for select games, offering accessible entry points for grassroots players seeking to compete at the highest level.
All Road to EWC qualifying events will be consolidated into a unified calendar, allowing fans to track progression from regional tournaments through to the finals in Riyadh. EWCF will also run a multi-channel marketing campaign throughout the season, featuring match highlights, player interviews, live streams, video-on-demand content, and on-ground coverage by creators and influencers at key events.
The Foundation highlighted the scale of the initiative by referencing the 2025 season, during which more than 2,500 players from over 100 countries and 200 clubs qualified through Road to EWC. The season produced record-setting moments, including the youngest winner in Esports World Cup history and multiple legacy-defining victories across titles and clubs.
A dedicated Road to EWC hub will go live on esportsworldcup.com, providing comprehensive information on qualification events, including schedules, formats, locations, and viewing options. Fans will also be able to follow specific teams and players throughout the season.
The first wave of tickets for the Esports World Cup 2026 is now available via esportsworldcup.com and select international ticketing partners, along with special travel packages offered through Saudia Holidays for early purchasers.
