The Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI) organised the latest Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC) programme of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on December 17, 2025, at The Byke Business – Delotel. The training programme witnessed participation from 24 hospitality professionals and focused on strengthening food safety practices across the sector.

Conducted by Dr. Pasupathy V., the programme covered essential aspects of food safety including food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and waste management. Participants received practical insights aimed at improving operational standards and reinforcing best practices within their respective establishments.
The FoSTaC programme is designed to create a robust pool of certified Food Safety Supervisors (FSS) who are trained in good hygiene and manufacturing practices, in line with the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) Regulations, 2011. The initiative seeks to enhance the availability of skilled manpower in the food industry, promote self-compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, and foster a sustained culture of food safety across the country. By enabling Food Business Operators (FBOs) to better understand and adhere to hygiene and sanitary requirements, the programme encourages behavioural change and greater accountability.

Hotel And Restaurant Association (Western India) has, to date, successfully trained and certified 3,695 hospitality professionals through its FoSTaC programmes and FSSAI’s Management Training Programme. The Association continues to remain committed to promoting food safety and equipping industry professionals with the knowledge and skills required to uphold the highest standards in their day-to-day operations.
