Comic Con India is expanding its footprint once again, this time into Kerala with the launch of its first-ever Kochi edition. After recently adding Guwahati and Jaipur to its roster, the pop-culture giant has now confirmed that Kochi will host its inaugural edition on February 28 and March 1, 2026, at AICC Angamaly, Ernakulam. The event is presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, with tickets available exclusively on the District app by Zomato.
Since its inception in 2011, Comic Con India has grown into one of the country’s most anticipated cultural gatherings, uniting fans of comics, anime, gaming, art, and storytelling. The Kochi edition aims to continue the platform’s mission of making pop culture accessible, providing a space where creators can meet fans, share ideas, and draw inspiration for future pursuits.
Announcing the expansion, Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and MD, NODWIN Gaming, said, “Kochi has always balanced heritage and modern creativity in a way few cities can. The same city that grew up on Mayavi, Luttappi, and old Malayalam comic traditions is now also home to thriving cosplay circles, anime communities, and gaming cafes full of young talent. Fans from Kerala have long stood out at Comic Cons across the country, and it is time they get their own platform here at home. Kochi is ready for Comic Con, and we are excited to celebrate a culture that has been growing with so much heart.”
Kerala’s longstanding relationship with comics, from Chandamama and Champak to regional editions of Amar Chitra Katha, has shaped generations of readers. The state has also contributed its own homegrown superheroes to India’s pop-culture landscape, including Minnal Murali, which captivated global audiences, and Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, which introduced India’s first female superhero rooted in folklore.
In recent years, Kerala has rapidly transformed into a thriving destination for anime lovers, cosplay artists, gamers, and emerging creators. This vibrant mix of cultural depth and youthful energy positions Kochi as an ideal new home for Comic Con India.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the debut edition, Shefali Johnson, CEO, Comic Con India, said, “Kochi has a warmth and openness that makes it a special place for creative communities. Whether you walk through an art workshop in Fort Kochi, a college fest in Kalamassery, or a small gaming cafe tucked into a busy street, you find people who genuinely enjoy sharing ideas and learning from each other. That sense of community is exactly what Comic Con celebrates. Our hope is that this edition becomes a place where Kerala’s fans, artists, cosplayers, and young creators feel supported and inspired to keep growing.”
Visitors can expect an expansive lineup of programming, including cosplay competitions, interactive fan sessions, international and Indian guest appearances, anime and manga showcases, merchandise zones, gaming arenas, musical acts, comedy performances, and immersive brand experiences.
Tickets for the inaugural Kochi Comic Con 2026 are now available exclusively on District by Zomato.
