As wellness-led travel continues to surge globally, destination marathons are increasingly becoming the preferred way for travellers to merge fitness with exploration. Echoing this trend, the Mandiri Bintan Marathon returned on 8–9 November 2025 for its 4th edition, drawing more than 5,000 runners from around the world.
What was once a niche running hobby has evolved into a lifestyle movement—fuelled by the rise of running clubs, sunrise jogs, weekend races and international marathon vacations. The Mandiri Bintan Marathon has emerged as a key attraction for this growing community of wellness-driven travellers.
This year’s edition offered runners an immersive way to experience Bintan’s tropical charm through a course set against lush greenery, serene stretches and stunning coastal views. As an AIMS-certified measured course, the event also serves as an official qualifier for major global marathons, making it particularly appealing for Indian runners seeking an international race close to home.
Beyond race day, Bintan positions itself as a destination for post-marathon recovery, with luxury spas, traditional Indonesian therapies and unhurried island experiences that naturally extend the weekend into a wellness escape. As organisers describe it, “Here, you don’t just cross a finish line, you ease into the hours that follow.”
Further strengthening its appeal, Bintan continues to host a range of interest-led events throughout the year—spanning music festivals, endurance races, triathlons, sailing regattas and golf tournaments—helping boost inbound tourism from India.
