Gaurav Ramdev joins Visa as Head of Marketing for India and South Asia

Visa has appointed Gaurav Ramdev as its new Head of Marketing for India and South Asia. Ramdev, who recently concluded his stint at Protean eGov Technologies, brings extensive experience across consumer brands and fintech to the global payments company.

In this role, he will report to Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager for India & South Asia, and Danielle Jin, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for Asia Pacific. His mandate covers India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.

Ramdev previously served as Chief Growth and Marketing Officer at Protean, where he led the company’s rebranding and steered its public listing in 2023. Prior to that, he headed marketing at RazorpayX and played a key role in launching the neo-banking platform.

His career also includes significant achievements in the FMCG sector. At The Coca-Cola Company, he led brand marketing for Fanta in India and Southwest Asia, reversing a seven-year decline. At Britannia Industries, he helped revive well-known brands such as Treat, Jim Jam, and Pure Magic, and drove MTR to the top position in India’s breakfast foods category.

Ramdev started his professional journey as a software engineer at Satyam Computer Services before transitioning into marketing. He holds an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and has worked with ITC in the past.

Visa’s decision to bring Ramdev on board comes at a crucial time for the company in a rapidly evolving digital-payments ecosystem. With India and South Asia witnessing accelerated adoption of digital transactions and intensifying competition from emerging payment platforms, his blend of consumer and fintech expertise is expected to play a strategic role in strengthening Visa’s regional presence.
