Amarrass Records, the New Delhi–based independent label known for its pioneering work in sustaining India’s folk traditions, has announced the new season of its signature Amarrass Music Tours. The 2025–26 edition marks the return of two of its most sought-after experiences—Himalayan Baithak and Thar Blues—each designed to deepen travellers’ engagement with India’s living musical heritage.
Reimagining travel as a cultural exchange rather than passive sightseeing, the tours invite participants to step into the everyday worlds of traditional artists. Travellers share home-cooked meals, observe intimate moments of musical practice, learn indigenous crafts, and experience performances in the very landscapes that shaped them. The experiences are curated around authenticity, sustainability, and equitable collaboration with artist communities.
Ashutosh Sharma, Founder of Amarrass Records, said, “Amarrass Music Tours were conceived as an antidote to the hurried and transactional nature of modern tourism. These journeys invite travellers to slow down and truly listen—not only to the music but to the lives and landscapes that give it meaning. Each encounter, whether a song, a meal, or a shared silence, becomes part of a living tradition.”
Himalayan Baithak: A 20-Guest Immersive Mountain Retreat
Set in the serene hills of Uttarakhand, Himalayan Baithak is positioned as “the world’s smallest festival,” offering an intimate two-day retreat for just twenty guests. Hosted at Soulitude by the Riverside in Chanfi near Nainital, the experience blends the spiritual depth of Qawwali with the lyrical elegance of Kumaoni folk.
Guests participate in baithaks with Rehmat-e-Nusrat and Himali Mou, join a Kumaoni farm-to-table cooking session, and trek to a hidden alpine lake. Evenings feature storytelling, community conversations, and unplugged performances that highlight the region’s rich cultural legacy.
The retreat will be held on Nov 7–9, Dec 25–27, Jan 16–18, Feb 20–22, and Mar 20–22. Prices begin at ₹81,000 per person, inclusive of accommodation, meals, artist interactions, and curated activities. Participation is invitation-only to maintain the experience’s sanctity.

Thar Blues: A Deep Dive Into Rajasthan’s Desert Legacy
In Jaisalmer, Thar Blues offers a journey through the folk traditions of the Thar Desert. Guests witness a sunset performance by the globally acclaimed Barmer Boys at Gadisar Lake, enjoy intimate sessions at the ancestral home of Padma Shri Sakar Khan, and participate in a morchang workshop. The itinerary also includes a visit to one of the last remaining Kamaicha makers in the region.
The experience concludes with a traditional Rajasthani feast under the desert sky, shared with the musicians whose stories animate the tour.
Thar Blues will take place on Nov 22–23, Dec 20–21, Jan 24–25, Feb 14–15, and Mar 14–15, with prices starting at ₹21,000 per person. Like Himalayan Baithak, this tour is invitation-based and limited to small groups.
