India’s Youngest Boy Band OutStation to Open for Akon in Mumbai

OutStation, India’s youngest and fastest-rising boy band, is set to deliver a landmark performance as the official opening act for global superstar Akon during his Mumbai concert on November 16 at NESCO, Goregaon. The appearance marks a major breakthrough for the teenage I-Pop group, which has been mentored by acclaimed songwriter and producer Savan Kotecha.

Kotecha — a 17-time Grammy nominee and Oscar and Golden Globe nominee — has been instrumental in shaping the band’s artistic journey. OutStation will present a high-energy set featuring original tracks crafted under his guidance, offering fans an electrifying preview ahead of Akon’s headline act.

Sharing their excitement, the band said the opportunity feels “like a defining moment,” adding that performing alongside a global cultural icon whose music has deeply influenced Indian audiences is “an honour.”

Often described as India’s answer to global acts like BTS and One Direction, OutStation has rapidly built a loyal youth fanbase. Their recent initiative, ‘Outstation Prom,’ made waves in Mumbai as India’s first dedicated teen pop prom night. The event sold out within hours—despite the band not having released a single track—solidifying their cultural influence and fan engagement. The night also saw surprise appearances by artists Anuv Jain, Akshath and Bharat Chandak, reinforcing the band’s growing industry support.

“We want to create a space where young people feel celebrated. Everything we do as OutStation should feel special,” the band shared, noting that the prom concept was inspired by what they themselves longed for growing up.

Their debut single is slated for release on November 18, just days after their performance at Akon’s tour stop, positioning the group for an impactful entry into the music charts.

Formed through an extensive talent search by Visva Records — the collaborative imprint of Savan Kotecha, Republic Records, and Universal Music India — OutStation comprises five members from across India: Bhuvan Shetty (22, Udupi), Hemang Singh (20, Prayagraj), Mashaal Shaikh (21, Goa), Kurien Sebastian (20, Delhi), and Shayan Pattem (17, Hyderabad). Their name reflects the members’ diverse origins, unified in a shared journey to the national and global stage.

With the backing of talent management agency Represent, production company Jugaad Motion Pictures, and the visionary direction of Kotecha, OutStation is poised to lead a new wave of Indian teen pop and make its mark beyond borders.
