Chennai Super Champs, the city’s World Pickleball League (WPBL) franchise, announced today the launch of six state-of-the-art indoor courts at Sathyabama University. These courts will host the inaugural edition of the Chennai Open, set to take place from November 13 to 16, 2025.
The tournament, organised by Chennai Super Champs in collaboration with WPBL, promises to bring the fast-growing sport of pickleball to the heart of Chennai, offering a record prize pool of ₹25 Lacs—the largest in Indian pickleball history. Players across 46 categories in Intermediate, Advanced, and Pro levels can register to compete, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and advance to the upcoming WPBL season.
Chennai Open will cater to players of all ages and abilities, featuring Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events across multiple age brackets, including Under 14, Under 18, Open, 35+, and 50+. Participants can register for up to two skill levels and age brackets, with Intermediate players eligible to compete in Advanced categories, and Advanced players able to step up to Pro.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, owner of Chennai Super Champs, said, “Chennai has always embraced sport with unmatched passion, and the Chennai Open reflects that spirit. Pickleball is fun, inclusive, and accessible. We want everyone—youngsters, families, and sports enthusiasts—to come, play, and be part of this growing community.”

Co-owner Himank Duvvuru added, “Our goal is to make pickleball part of Chennai’s everyday life. We are organising camps for school kids, women, and working professionals to inspire more people to pick up a paddle and enjoy this incredible sport.”
Registrations are open until November 6 and can be completed at WPBL tournament portal. The event will be held at Sathyabama University, Jeppiaar Nagar, SH 49A, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600119.
