Tokyo-based American guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman is set to return to India in January 2026 for a three-city tour, marking his first performances in the country in nearly seven years. The legendary musician, best known for his stint with thrash metal pioneers Megadeth, will perform in Mumbai on January 16, New Delhi on January 17, and will conclude his tour at the Kantha Festival, part of BLR Hubba in Bengaluru, on January 18.
Friedman, who began his solo career with the 1988 album Dragon’s Kiss, has since established himself as one of the most influential guitarists in the world, known for his distinct fusion of metal and Eastern musical styles. Now based in Tokyo, he continues to push creative boundaries across his solo projects and collaborations.
The guitarist last performed in India in 2019, when he made his debut at NH7 Weekender in Meghalaya — a performance that was widely celebrated among Indian metal fans. In 2021, he further deepened his connection with the Indian music scene by featuring on Delhi-based rock band Antariksh’s track Quest.
The upcoming tour marks a significant return for Friedman, who remains a revered figure in the global rock and metal landscape. Tickets and additional details for all three shows are now available on gravitytalent.in.
