Blending Nostalgia and Now — Gaatha’s Co-founder Priyanshu Bhargava on the Art of Hybrid Wedding Storytelling

From timeless nostalgia to modern precision, Priyanshu Bhargava is redefining the storytelling of destination weddings with Gaatha. Recently featured in ET Panache 35 UNDER 35 – Edition III, launched at WOW Awards Asia 2025, he blends the charm of film with the clarity of digital to create wedding memories that feel both classic and contemporary. We spoke to him about his unique hybrid approach and how it’s transforming the way couples remember their big day.

1. Gaatha has redefined destination wedding storytelling in many ways—what first inspired you to explore the idea of blending film and digital together?

The inspiration came from the wedding photos of our parents. They were so classic and timeless.

2. Destination weddings are all about atmosphere and emotion—how does a hybrid style help you capture layers of both in a way that a single medium cannot?

With the hybrid style, you get the modern feel and vibe with the digital medium. Film as a medium gives that old charm.

3. Film brings nostalgia while digital offers precision—how do you strike the right balance between the two, and what guides your choices on which moments are best captured on each medium?

With film as a medium, you get limited frames. And the process is slow and has to be done with a lot of care. So for slow moments and portraits, the film medium is well-suited. For the moments with fast movements, the digital medium can provide that precision.

4. Can you share some challenges or memorable experiences from blending film and digital during a destination wedding, and how those moments shaped the final story?

The guests are very intrigued when they see the photographer shooting on film. They interact a lot, especially the older generation and people who are interested in art. This always helps in making great connections.

5. For couples considering this approach, what do you believe a hybrid wedding film gives them that pure digital coverage simply cannot?

Timelessness. Nostalgia. Old charm.

6. Looking ahead, do you see hybrid storytelling as a lasting shift in wedding documentation or more of a niche trend for modern couples?

I think it will be a niche trend for modern couples who love art and photography.

With Gaatha, Priyanshu Bhargava proves that wedding storytelling isn’t just about capturing moments—it’s about crafting experiences that linger, combining the old-world charm of film with the precision of digital to create truly timeless memories.
