Hoopr Disburses ₹4.5 Crore to 1,500+ Musicians, Empowering India’s Emerging Artists

Hoopr, India’s first music licensing platform, has announced that it has paid over ₹4.5 crore to more than 1,500 artists across 20+ genres over the past three years. This marks a major milestone for the platform and the Indian music industry, establishing Hoopr as a pioneer in transparent micro-sync licensing payouts.

The platform has become a key revenue source for behind-the-scenes creators such as music producers, composers, and background score artists, helping them earn fairly for their work. While traditional revenue streams like streaming and live performances often benefit only established artists, Hoopr has opened up a new and inclusive avenue for mid-tier and emerging talent.

Every time a brand or creator licenses a track from Hoopr, the respective artist earns directly—receiving between 50–65% of the revenue. Artists also benefit from royalty payments through Hoopr’s partnership with IPRS.

Hoopr’s roster includes names like Nilesh Dahanukar (Special 26, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior), Aditya Kudalkar (Gathan), Divya Limbasia (The Family Man), Sayan Chakraborty, and Devashish Korani (Yeh Chahiye, Ruaa Ruaa). The platform now supports over 30,000 creators, including Ashish Vidyarthi, Chef Ranveer Brar, and Flying Beast, and has collaborated with 175+ brands such as ITC, Himalaya, Myntra, Meesho, Marico, and UltraTech.

An inspiring story is that of Trivarg Arandhara (Triv), an independent artist from Assam, who earned from a single Hoopr licensing deal what he would have otherwise made from nearly 4.8 lakh streams on Spotify or YouTube.

Gaurav Dagaonkar, Co-founder & CEO, Hoopr said, “This milestone goes beyond the payouts—it represents a shift towards sustainable income for artists across India. We firmly believe that licensing is the future of creator monetization, and ₹4.5 crore in payouts is only the beginning. As the adoption of licensed music accelerates, we expect artist earnings to rise exponentially. By FY2028, our goal is to surpass ₹100 crore in cumulative payouts, driven by expansion into new genres and languages, deeper collaborations with global and regional labels, and the increasing use of licensed music by brands, agencies, and content creators.”

Meghna Mittal, Co-founder & CRO, Hoopr said, “Transparency and trust have been core to Hoopr’s DNA from the very beginning. Our tech-enabled backend ensures that artists are paid promptly whenever their music is used. By combining a seamless, automated licensing experience for both artists and brands, we’re raising the bar for fairness and accountability in the Indian music economy. This is only the beginning — we’re building an inclusive ecosystem where every artist can thrive, and brands can effortlessly access culturally resonant music.”

With this milestone, Hoopr is paving the way for a new era in India’s music industry—one rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and fair compensation for all creators.
