The Storyteller Behind the Screen: Nidhi Shah on Creativity and Vision

In an industry crowded with ideas and talent, Nidhi Shah, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Design Jockeys, has carved a distinctive niche. Celebrated in the ET Panache 35 Under 35 Edition III, launched at WOW Awards Asia 2025, Nidhi has spent over a decade transforming concepts into experiences that blend technology, storytelling, and design. Her work doesn’t just capture attention—it creates lasting impressions. In this candid interview, she shares how Design Jockeys continues to stay ahead of trends while delivering creativity that resonates globally.

1. In a saturated creative industry, how has Design Jockeys managed to differentiate itself over more than a decade?

Differentiation comes from consistency and adaptability. We don’t just follow trends—we anticipate shifts in audience behavior and brand needs. By blending storytelling with technology, whether in 2D animation, event AVs, or anamorphic content, we’ve built a reputation for delivering work that’s not only visually appealing but strategically effective.

2. Many creative agencies struggle with balancing art and deadlines. How do you manage both without compromising quality?

This is one of the toughest challenges. Our approach is process-driven: we start with clarity on objectives, then build creative layers around it. It’s about discipline as much as imagination. We’ve trained our teams to innovate within constraints, which is why even under pressure, our final output doesn’t lose its impact.

3. What is the biggest risk Design Jockeys has taken creatively—and what did you learn from it?

Venturing into anamorphic content was a risk. It required new skills, higher investments, and convincing clients to experiment. The learning was clear: if you’re confident in your vision, clients respond positively. Today, that risk has positioned us among the few studios in India with proven anamorphic expertise.

4. Working with international clients from the UK, Dubai, and beyond brings cultural differences. How do you adapt your storytelling across borders?

Every culture interprets visuals differently, so our first step is research. We invest time in understanding cultural sensitivities and audience expectations. This ensures our work resonates universally while still respecting local nuances—whether it’s content for a corporate event in Dubai or a brand film for a UK client.

5. What was the turning point when you realized Design Jockeys had built a real name in the industry?

It was when our work started being showcased at international events and when clients overseas began reaching out to us purely on recommendation. That validation—that our creativity holds weight globally—was a proud moment and a turning point.

From pioneering new formats like anamorphic content to serving clients across continents, Nidhi Shah has consistently proven that creativity combined with strategy can break boundaries. Under her guidance, Design Jockeys continues to set benchmarks, inspiring the next generation of creative leaders and redefining what it means to craft work that truly resonates.
