Goa Tourism Celebrates World Tourism Day with Heritage Walks, Forest Picnic & Carambolim Lake Experience

As part of World Tourism Day 2025 celebrations, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), SKAL International Goa, and the Yuva Tourism Club, organised a series of immersive experiences over the past week. These included a Heritage Walk at Aguad Port & Jail Complex, a ‘Picnic by the Forest Stream’ at Bicholim, and a Nature Experience at Carambolim Lake.

These initiatives are part of Goa Tourism’s efforts to promote regenerative and experiential tourism, bringing students, stakeholders, and visitors closer to Goa’s natural and cultural heritage. From exploring history at Aguad, to relaxing in forest waters at Bicholim, to learning about wetland biodiversity at Carambolim Lake, the activities highlighted Goa’s “Beyond Beaches” narrative and focus on conservation.

Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte said, “Through such inclusive and diverse programmes, we are reinforcing our vision of positioning Goa as a leader in regenerative tourism. By blending heritage, nature and community experiences, we are creating meaningful engagements for students, stakeholders and visitors alike.”

Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik said, “These activities not only offer unique insights into Goa’s ecology and heritage but also sensitise participants about the importance of sustainability and responsible travel. The enthusiastic response from schools, colleges and tourism partners encourages us to continue expanding such initiatives under the Yuva Tourism Club.”

The Department of Tourism will continue hosting activities, culminating in the Tourism Stakeholders’ Meet at Grand Hyatt Goa and a Film Festival at ESG showcasing Goa’s heritage and conservation stories.
