Weddings That Speak: Preksha Choksi on Immersive and Personal Celebrations

Weddings are no longer just rituals—they are immersive stories, curated experiences where every detail whispers a couple’s journey. Preksha Choksi, Co-Founder of The White Flea and a proud entrant in ET Panache 35 Under 35 – Edition III, launched at WOW Awards Asia 2025, is at the forefront of this transformation. With a unique ability to blend tradition, culture, and modern design, she turns personal narratives into breathtaking celebrations that linger in memory long after the last dance.

We spoke with her about personalization trends, creative strategies, and how she transforms weddings into unforgettable experiences.

1. When you begin working with a couple, how do you uncover their individual stories and translate them into wedding design?

I like to begin with conversations, understanding who the couple really are, what culture they come from, and what memories or experiences have shaped them. For example, in a recent destination wedding we executed, the bride had lived in Goa for some years, and we wanted to bring that part of her story into the celebrations. For the haldi function, we created an ombré ceiling installation in wave-like patterns with soft pastel tones, evoking the breezy coastal vibe of Goa. It made the space feel personal and meaningful, while also reflecting her journey.

2. What are the biggest personalization trends you’re seeing in intimate weddings today, especially in décor, sustainability, and guest experience?

Couples today want guests to feel a deeper connection with the wedding experience. One trend that’s going on is creating flower giveaway corners where fresh flowers are repurposed into take-home bouquets, making décor sustainable and memorable. We recently designed personalized manglastaks with the concept of Brahma Vivah, where each guest received a written explanation of the wedding ceremony. It allowed everyone to feel included and understand the sacred rituals in a personal way.

3. How do you balance couples’ personal preferences with design trends and your own creative vision?

It’s always a blend. I believe every wedding should first and foremost reflect the couple, who they are, their story, and what matters to them. At the same time, I bring in my own creative vision to elevate their ideas and align them with timeless design sensibilities. The goal is to make sure the wedding doesn’t just follow trends but feels authentic and curated uniquely for that couple.

4. What creative tools or elements (lighting, textures, installations, sensory design) do you find most powerful in making a wedding truly personal?

For me, weddings are all about creating an immersive experience. Lighting sets the mood, textures bring depth, and installations give a space its character. But beyond the visual, sensory details make a huge difference—the fragrance in the air, the touch and feel of the fabrics, and the overall atmosphere guests experience as they enter the venue. These small but powerful elements transform a wedding into a memory that lingers long after the event.

5. What challenges do you face when personalizing weddings within constraints like budget or venue, and how do you overcome them?

Challenges are what make this work exciting! Every venue has its quirks, and every budget comes with its boundaries, but that’s where creativity shines. We focus on enhancing the natural landscape of the venue and then adding thoughtful, personalized details that give it character. Working within constraints often pushes us to be more innovative, and the end result usually feels more authentic.

6. Where do you see the future of personalized weddings heading in the next 5 years?

I believe weddings will continue moving toward intimacy and authenticity. Couples want to create experiences that truly matter for their loved ones, personal touches that make guests feel included and special. For those with larger budgets, destination weddings will keep growing in popularity because they naturally bring people together in a more immersive, personalized environment. Ultimately, the focus is shifting toward quality over scale, and that’s a beautiful evolution for weddings.

With a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to storytelling, Preksha Choksi continues to redefine what it means to celebrate love. Through her work at The White Flea, weddings are no longer just events—they are living, breathing narratives that honour each couple’s journey, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved.
