The Indian Superbike League (ISBL), India’s first professional motorcycle racing league, is gearing up for its maiden season with 200 riders officially qualifying after classification rounds in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. The trials saw an overwhelming 1,200 entries across Pro, Amateur, Female, and Rookie categories.
Unlike traditional races judged only on speed, ISBL evaluated riders on fitness, technique, prior racing experience, discipline, and personality—aiming to create complete athletes who meet international standards.
A highlight of the Chennai round was the debut of Ducati superbikes on track, offering many riders their first taste of world-class machines. This move underlines ISBL’s commitment to setting global benchmarks for Indian motorsport, focusing not only on racing but also on infrastructure, safety, and international-level competition.
Pranav Bakre, Director, ISBL, said, “The response has blown past our expectations. What we’ve uncovered is an extraordinary reservoir of Indian talent that was waiting for the right stage. We’re building not just a league but a culture where speed, discipline, and sportsmanship come together. With the Pune round around the corner, we’re ready to open a new chapter for motorsport in India.”
ISBL’s vision extends beyond race weekends, aiming to build a pathway for Indian riders from grassroots enthusiasm to professional international racing. With Pune set to conclude the classification cycle, anticipation now builds for the league’s much-awaited inaugural season—one that promises to reshape India’s place on the global motorcycling map.
