Pernod Ricard India appoints Debasree Dasgupta as New CMO

Pernod Ricard India has announced the appointment of Debasree Dasgupta as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Head of Global Business Development, effective 1 November 2025. She succeeds Kartik Mohindra, who will join William Grant & Sons as Managing Director for India on 30 September 2025, as per media reports.

Currently serving as Global Vice President for Absolut at Pernod Ricard, Dasgupta brings over two decades of experience in global brand building. She has held senior marketing roles at PepsiCo, Reckitt, and Unilever, managing business development and strategy across diverse markets. Her global exposure underscores Pernod Ricard’s intent to blend international expertise with strong local execution in India.

Dasgupta’s appointment reflects Pernod Ricard’s confidence in leveraging her international leadership track record to deepen its presence in the competitive Indian spirits market. Her diverse portfolio experience and insight into premium brands will help drive innovation and accelerate growth in India.

The transition will be phased, with Dasgupta assuming her assignment in November 2025 and relocating to India on 1 February 2026 to oversee operations on the ground. This staggered approach aims to ensure continuity and a smooth handover of responsibilities.

During his tenure, Mohindra was widely credited with strengthening Pernod Ricard’s market position in India, building brand equity, and navigating regulatory changes. Dasgupta now inherits a highly competitive market, where innovation and premiumisation remain critical growth drivers.

Pernod Ricard India has expressed confidence that Dasgupta’s leadership will provide a fresh perspective and momentum, reinforcing the company’s ambition to accelerate local growth while strengthening India’s role in its global strategy.
