Skål International India National Congress 2025 Sets New Milestones in Mumbai

The Skål International India National Congress 2025 concluded at the Sahara Star Hotel, Mumbai, from September 12–14, marking a historic milestone for the organisation. The three-day event drew more than 200 delegates from India and abroad — all paying full congress fees — making it the largest gathering of its kind.

The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities including Maneka Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor, Pooja Bedi, Subhash Gha, and Zayed Khani, setting the tone for a memorable congress.

The event featured the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2024–2025, led by President Sanjeev Mehra and Treasurer Monik Dharamshi. Reports on finances and activities were presented with clarity, while the roadmap for Vision 2025–2030 was shared to strengthen Skål’s footprint in India and deepen global engagement.

Dr. Mukesh Batra, President, Skål International Mumbai South, the host club said, “This congress is not just about numbers; it is about values, vision, and vitality. We are proud to host Skålleagues from across India and abroad to Mumbai, to celebrate the true spirit of friendship, collaboration, and business networking that Skål stands for.”

For the first time, the Skål International Indian Excellence Awards were introduced, honouring outstanding contributions in club performance, membership growth, innovation, sustainability, and community impact. Winners included Skål International Chennai (Best Performing Club), Skål International Goa (Best Active Club), and Skål International Bangalore (Fastest Growing Club).

Sanjeev Mehra, President, Skål International India, said, “The Excellence Awards are not merely trophies; they are a tribute to dedication, creativity, and the unwavering spirit of Skålleagues who are driving this movement forward. Our board’s vision for 2025–2030 is rooted in collective growth: more clubs, stronger retention, deeper engagement, and a unified Indian presence on the world stage.”

India reaffirmed its position as the largest Skål country in the world, surpassing the USA in membership. Four Indian clubs now rank among the global top ten. Ambitious plans were announced to expand into every Indian state and Union Territory, along with initiatives to twin clubs within India to foster collaboration.

Shekhar Divadkar, President, Skål International Asia said, “India is now firmly at the centre of global Skål activity. This congress reflects the vibrancy and energy of Indian tourism and hospitality professionals, who are increasingly shaping conversations at both regional and global levels. The future of Skål lies in Asia, and India is leading the way.”

NSN Mohan, Deputy Vice President and Director Region 10, Skål International said, “Skål is unique because it blends business with friendship, creating an ecosystem where tourism leaders collaborate, innovate, and work collectively towards sustainable growth. India’s role is pivotal in this journey.”

True to the Skål ethos of “Doing Business Among Friends,” the congress offered opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and entertainment. Sustainability was at the forefront, with eco-friendly practices like avoiding single-use plastics and preventing food and water waste.

Looking ahead, finalists for the 2026 congress were announced: Skål Jaipur, Skål Coimbatore, and Skål Jammu & Kashmir. India also aims to host the Skål International World Congress and Asia Congress in the coming years.

The 2025 edition concluded as a landmark celebration of unity, progress, and vision, setting a new benchmark for Skål events worldwide.
