Magnetic Fields, one of the world’s most striking contemporary arts and music festivals, is set for a new chapter. Since its debut in 2013, the festival has been held at Alsisar Mahal in Rajasthan, becoming a much-anticipated annual event every December. But 2025 will mark a change – the festival will not return to Alsisar, the place it has called home for over a decade.
In a statement released on September 9, the organisers thanked the village and its people for their warmth and hospitality. They also announced a new festival, Magnetic Fields Nomads, scheduled for February 13-15, 2026, at a new location in Rajasthan.
The heartfelt note, titled A Love Letter to Alsisar – The Beginning Of A New Chapter, reflected on the festival’s 10-year journey. It described Alsisar as more than just a destination – a place where countless magical moments unfolded, from sunrise sets to friendships formed on the dancefloor.
The organisers shared, “As the festival landscape shifts, we now turn the page to a new chapter. A vision that carries the essence of Magnetic Fields into radiant new futures, unfolding across a series of extraordinary events and projects that breathe life into heritage spaces, challenging what a festival can be.”
The team revealed that the first edition of Nomads will be hosted at “an exquisite and breathtaking new location in Rajasthan – a 21st-century architectural wonder.” Details will be shared in phases, exclusively with those who register.
Sarah Elizabeth Chawla, Co-Founder, Magnetic Fields said, “There are a lot of options out there – which of course, is great for everyone – but we want to stick to what we do best and what we always did differently. We have never been about the biggest stages, names or largest crowds. We want to be more intentional and reconnect with our purpose as a festival, using culture as an opportunity to centre and ground ourselves, not as a space for distraction and dissociation. Our goal is to challenge perceptions of what a festival can be, encouraging presence and sticking to our signature curation that weaves heritage and futurism into a bold new future.”
Over the years, Magnetic Fields has become a platform for underground music, young and emerging artists, and a bridge between diverse traditions – from folk and classical to contemporary. With Nomads, the team aims to carry forward this legacy while redefining what a modern festival experience can mean.
