MuseMusic announces India Music Retreat: A Transformative Musical Odyssey at Fairmont Jaipur

MuseMusic has announced the India Music Retreat, a four-day immersive festival celebrating India’s rich musical heritage from September 19–22, 2025. Set against the regal backdrop of Fairmont Jaipur, the retreat will combine masterful performances, intimate dialogues, and exceptional culinary experiences to create a one-of-a-kind journey through India’s diverse musical landscape. Guests will experience India’s sonic traditions, ranging from classical ragas and folk music to ghazals, retro classics, and contemporary fusion.

The retreat will showcase captivating performances by some of India’s most celebrated artists, including Aruna Sairam, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Wasifuddin Dagar, Jasbir Jassi, Jayanthi Kumaresh, and many more.

Ustad Shujaat Khan said, “It’s always special when so many wonderful musicians and listeners come together in one place. There’s a kind of quiet strength in that shared energy. Playing here, at a retreat by MuseMusic, brings out something deeper in me—because the atmosphere isn’t about performance, it’s about presence. This retreat has heart, and that makes all the difference.”

Aruna Sairam said, “Being at the India Music Retreat feels like coming home—to music, to community, and to intent. I’ve been part of MuseMusic’s journey from the very beginning, and what brings me back each time is the purity of purpose and the quiet pursuit of excellence. Over these three days, I look forward not just to performing, but to listening, learning, and sharing. And yes, there will be a few musical surprises along the way…”

Beyond performances, the retreat offers signature festival experiences designed to deepen engagement. Highlights include Maestro’s Choice, where Aruna Sairam will recognize a promising young artist; Song of the Unsung, a tribute to accompanying musicians; Brunch with Brian Silas, featuring live music paired with a curated brunch; and Magical Mornings, with dawn riyaz led by Jayanthi Kumaresh and Wasifuddin Dagar. Guests will also encounter spontaneous performances across Fairmont Jaipur through Music Gully, transforming corridors, courtyards, and lounges into living stages.

The retreat reimagines Fairmont Jaipur as a living conservatory where music flows through terraces, reflecting pools, and intimate alcoves. Attendees can look forward to sunrise ragas, afternoon conversations with artists, collaborative jam sessions, and lasting connections with fellow music lovers.

George Brooks said, “From California to Jaipur—it feels like coming home. Jaipur is particularly meaningful to me because the first Indian musician that became close friends and colleagues with is the wonderful sitarist Krishna Bhatt who is from Jaipur and his music is deeply rooted in the soil of Rajasthan. There’s something deeply moving about being part of a retreat where diverse musical energies don’t just coexist, they connect. Jazz has always been about improvisation and dialogue, and for the past 40 years my collaborations with Indian musicians have been a natural extension of that spirit. At MuseMusic’s retreat, that dialogue becomes even more meaningful—because the setting, the intent, and the audience are all tuned in to something real.”

Pooja Goswami Pavan said, “After years of riyaz and teaching in faraway Minnesota, being here feels like a homecoming like no other. Joining the India Music Retreat—my first with MuseMusic—fills me with joy and quiet anticipation. To be in the company of fellow musicians and stalwarts, to listen deeply, and to offer my ballads of love to such a discerning audience is a rare privilege. Though I live far from the land of my musical roots, this retreat reminds me that tradition travels with you—and waits patiently to be shared.”

Whether in the courtyards of Patiala, on the ghats of Benares, or amid the Aravallis of Jaipur, every MuseMusic experience is designed to restore, nurture, and elevate Indian music traditions—both classical and contemporary—while giving audiences the space to pause, listen, and connect in meaningful ways.
