HYROX Smashes Records at NESCO, Mumbai – India’s Largest Fitness Race to Date

The global fitness phenomenon HYROX made history in India as its second Mumbai edition turned NESCO into a high-energy arena of endurance, grit, and community spirit. With over 3,350 athletes from more than 50 countries, the event set a new benchmark for participation, doubling the turnout from its debut Indian race just four months earlier.

The HYROX format—a gruelling blend of 8 x 1km runs interspersed with 8 functional workout stations such as the SkiErg, Sled Push, Burpee Broad Jumps, and Wall Balls—delivered the ultimate test of strength and stamina for both elite and recreational athletes.

A Race for All – From 16 to 70

Inclusivity remained the heart of the event. Shivanjali Mitkari, a 16-year-old from Pune, proved age is no barrier as the youngest competitor, while Mohan Moyara, a 70-year-old from Surat, inspired the crowd as the eldest participant. In the Adaptives category, Prashant Arkal, a 40-year-old IT professional with polio, completed the course in a wheelchair, drawing standing ovations.

International Stars & Indian Icons

Among the global talent, UK’s Leanne M. and Danielle C. set the pace in the Pro Women’s Doubles with an impressive 1:02:23 finish. Adding Bollywood sparkle to the sweat and steel, singer Dhvani Bhanushali competed in the Doubles category, while elite Indian athletes, including football goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Olympic swimmer Srihari Nataraj, took part in the challenge.

PUMA India Powers the Partner Zone

As the official partner, PUMA India transformed the Partner’s Zone into a lifestyle and engagement hub—complete with braiding stations, temporary tattoos, athlete meet-and-greets, and the exclusive launch of the PUMA x HYROX collection. PUMA athletes Apoorva Addepalli and Aarya Pradeep proudly clinched third place in the All-Women Relay category.

The Road Ahead – Bengaluru in 2026

Deepak Raj, HYROX India’s Country Head, confirmed that with participation numbers doubling since May 2025, the momentum is undeniable. The next chapter will see India host its first-ever two-day HYROX festival in Bengaluru in April 2026, promising an even bigger stage for the nation’s growing fitness movement.

“This is a monumental race for fitness in India. HYROX is more than just a race; it’s going to inspire and challenge individuals to embrace hybrid fitness encompassing both endurance and strength. In the last 2 years itself, over 5,00,000 people across the world have taken part in HYROX races. The larger number of participants at the Mumbai race are a celebration of this rapidly growing community of hybrid athletes who are embracing this sport of fitness racing,” said Deepak.

With NESCO’s roar still echoing, HYROX Mumbai 2025 was more than a race—it was a statement that India is ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the global fitness elite.
