Hindustan Zinc Launches 2nd Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon with Poster & Jersey Reveal

Hindustan Zinc, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top five silver producers globally, has announced the 2nd edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon. The event will take place on September 21 2025, starting from Field Club, Udaipur.

To mark the launch, the official marathon poster was unveiled, showcasing the serene beauty of Udaipur. The race-day jersey, revealed in vibrant shades of blue, orange, and pink, symbolizes inclusivity, energy, and unity. The ceremony was attended by Chief Conservator of Forest Department Shri Sunil Chedri, Hindustan Zinc CEO & Whole-time Director Arun Misra, and Dr. Manoj Soni from ABCR (Anybody Can Run).

The marathon is aligned with #RunForZeroHunger, an initiative by Nand Ghar of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, dedicated to fighting malnutrition in India.

Building on the success of the first edition in 2024, which drew over 5,000 runners, this year’s marathon will be bigger and more inclusive. Runners will traverse iconic Udaipur landscapes including Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli Hills. The event will include multiple categories — the Half Marathon (21 km), Cool Run (10 km), Dream Run (5 km), and “Race with Champions” for specially abled participants. The event is AIMS-certified and part of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.

Shri Sunil Chedri said, “The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has emerged as a significant event for Udaipur, one that will mark the city on the global map. It is not just a one-day event but the result of year-long efforts, bringing benefits for public health while also carrying the noble contribution of the #RunForZeroHunger initiative. This purposeful effort is not only a fight against malnutrition but also a celebration of community spirit. Sports play a vital role in the holistic development of individuals, and this initiative by Hindustan Zinc is truly commendable. I extend my best wishes to the organizers of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon and to all the participants.”

Arun Misra said, “At Hindustan Zinc, we believe that sports have the unique power to unite people, inspire positive change and create lasting impact. The Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is more than just a race, it is a movement that celebrates inclusivity, endurance, and the spirit of Udaipur. Through our support of the #RunForZeroHunger initiative by Nand Ghar, we are proud to align fitness with a noble cause, empowering communities for a healthier and stronger tomorrow.”

The launch also featured a digital reveal of the poster and jersey — a first-of-its-kind move that highlighted the blend of technology and tradition. Renowned mentalist Sapan Joshi entertained the audience with his unique performance inspired by Udaipur’s history and the marathon’s mission.

Known as India’s most beautiful marathon, the event is not only about running but also about celebrating Udaipur’s heritage. Participants will experience the charm of lakes, palaces, and the Aravalli ranges. With runners from 27 Indian states and international participation, the marathon is set to boost tourism and provide economic benefits for local businesses, hotels, and artisans.

As the “Zinc City,” Udaipur has a mining history of over 3,000 years. By hosting this marathon, the city strengthens its identity as both a heritage capital and a sporting hub.

Hindustan Zinc has been actively supporting sports-led community development in Rajasthan through initiatives like the Zinc Football Academy, grassroots cricket, kabaddi, handball, volleyball programmes, and the Zinc Football Nand Ghar project.
