Bengaluru is set to witness a landmark addition to its urban and sporting landscape with the announcement of a world-class sports complex in Surya City, Bommasandra. The ambitious project, revealed by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, comes with an investment of ₹1,650 crore and is envisioned as a hub for international sporting and cultural events.
Spread across 75 acres, the complex will feature a 60,000-seat stadium, making it the second-largest in India. Beyond its scale, the facility is designed as a multi-sport destination equipped to international standards.
The sports complex will go far beyond a traditional stadium. Plans include:
- Indoor and outdoor arenas for multiple sports
- Olympic-size swimming pools
- World-class gyms and training centres
- Hostels and hotels to support athletes and visitors
- A modern convention hall for large-scale cultural and corporate gatherings
This holistic design positions the complex as a venue capable of hosting not just global tournaments, but also concerts, conferences, and festivals, putting Bengaluru firmly on the international map.
Calling it “Bengaluru’s big leap into global sports”, D.K. Shivakumar highlighted how the project will boost the city’s infrastructure, create opportunities for local sporting talent, and attract world-class events to Karnataka.
