iTV Network’s Walkathon Draws 1,000+ in Wake-Up Call for Health & Environment

On the occasion of National Vascular Day, iTV Network’s India News Haryana hosted a successful 3-kilometre Walkathon in Panchkula, bringing together over 1,000 citizens from all walks of life. Despite the monsoon rains, the event saw enthusiastic participation, highlighting the growing public concern for health, awareness, and environmental responsibility.

Organized under the ‘Run for Fun’ campaign, the Walkathon was conducted in collaboration with Alchemist Hospital and Ojas Hospital, with environmental support from I HATE POLYTHENE. The event combined health and sustainability efforts, making it both impactful and memorable.

The day began with energetic dance-led warm-ups and open-air yoga sessions that created a vibrant atmosphere. Schoolchildren, families, senior citizens, and fitness enthusiasts came together in a strong show of community spirit.

Top medical professionals and environmental advocates addressed the gathering. Renowned vascular surgeon Dr. Ankur Aggarwal emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and lifestyle changes in preventing vascular diseases, saying, “The only way to stem the rising tide of vascular diseases is through early diagnosis and preventive lifestyle changes.”

The event was flagged off by Panchkula’s Civil Surgeon, Dr. Mukta Kumar, who praised the public response and emphasized the importance of reducing plastic use. “Her address resonated with purpose as she praised the overwhelming public response and issued a clarion call to reduce plastic use as a vital step toward a cleaner, healthier planet.”

The Walkathon aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of untreated vascular diseases, which can lead to serious consequences like amputations. It also promoted eco-friendly practices among participants, turning the event into a platform for holistic well-being.

Dr. Aishwarya Pandit Sharma, Chairperson, iTV Foundation said, “What we saw in Panchkula was powerful. Over a thousand people walked for a cause that matters. It shows us that awareness works when it becomes action. Now is the time to take this to more cities, reach more people, and build a movement that prioritizes health and the environment together.”

Following its success in Panchkula, the ‘Run for Fun’ campaign is set to expand to other districts in Haryana. The event has proven that unified community action can spark real change—and even the rain can become part of a celebration when the cause is strong enough.
