Amazon India Hosts 530 Volunteering Events Across 60 Cities as Part of Global Community Initiative

Amazon India recently concluded its Global Month of Volunteering (GMV) 2025, mobilizing over 66,000 employees across 530 events in more than 60 cities. Held throughout May, the initiative combined on-ground, in-office, and virtual formats to address diverse social causes—from education and food security to women’s empowerment, sustainability, and animal welfare.

Executed in collaboration with over 100 nonprofit partners, each event was tailored to local community needs. In Hyderabad and Bengaluru, volunteers helped set up community kitchens serving nearly 200,000 meals, while in Bengaluru, Project Blue engaged volunteers in restoring urban lakes using floating wetlands and aquatic plants.

Over 100,000 resource kits were distributed during the campaign—ranging from STEM kits and first-aid boxes to menstrual hygiene supplies and bicycles—turning each distribution into a meaningful community activation.

According to Samir Kumar, Country Manager at Amazon India, “The true impact of volunteering lies not only in the service provided but also in the sense of connection it builds.” Reflecting on his personal experience at a school transformation drive in Bengaluru, he noted how even simple actions—like creating colourful learning aids out of discarded materials—can leave a lasting impression on both children and volunteers.

For the events and experiential industry, GMV 2025 reflects how corporate volunteering can evolve into multi-format, purpose-led engagement that blends scale with local relevance—offering a model for high-impact, decentralized programming.
