Skyesports has partnered with the Financial Modeling World Cup (FMWC) to host the India Qualifier for the Microsoft Excel World Championship (MEWC), marking the country’s debut in the international competition. The event is supported by the Indian Digital Gaming Society (IDGS) and will take place in Chennai.
The India Qualifier will begin with three open online rounds, open to participants from across the country. Registrations are now live on the Microsoft Excel World Championship – India Qualifier website. The competition is designed for individuals to solve advanced problem-solving tasks using Microsoft Excel — with a focus on logic, creativity, and analytical thinking.
Following the online stages, the top 12 performers will be invited to the national finals, which will be held at the Skyesports HQ studio in Chennai. The final round will be streamed live, providing viewers an opportunity to witness the participants solve challenges in real time.
The winner of the India Qualifier will receive a fully-funded trip to Las Vegas, USA, to compete in the MEWC 2025 World Finals in the Round of 64. In addition to representing India on the global stage, the champion will also attend a three-day Microsoft Excel and financial modeling training camp in Las Vegas, valued at over INR 1,00,000.
The MEWC World Finals will be broadcast live on the FMWC YouTube channel and covered by international media outlets, including ESPN, The Guardian, Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. The total prize pool for the championship is $61,500.
Participants in the online qualifiers will receive an access link via email shortly before the competition begins. Once on the competition platform, participants will be able to download the case and submit their answers. Each participant will have a 45-minute window to start their attempt, and a 30-minute timer to solve and submit their solution. Late starts will result in less time to complete the task.
Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports, commented:“The India Qualifier for the Microsoft Excel World Championship is an esports tournament like no other.
