Sri Lanka Successfully Concludes Tourism Roadshows in Lucknow, Chandigarh and Jaipur

Sri Lanka Tourism has successfully wrapped up a series of promotional roadshows in Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Jaipur, held on June 23, 25, and 27, 2025. These events aimed to attract more Indian travellers, particularly from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan, by showcasing Sri Lanka as a year-round destination for all types of tourists.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), the roadshows included B2B meetings and networking evenings, highlighting the country’s diverse tourism offerings, resilience, and growth.

Led by Vijitha Herath, Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, and Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Honourable Deputy Minister of Tourism, the Sri Lankan delegation included officials from SLTPB and SLCB along with over 35 stakeholders from the tourism sector. Participants ranged from Destination Management Companies, hotels, resorts, tour operators, and other service providers.

In each city, the events drew over 200 attendees, including Indian travel agents, industry leaders, and media delegates. The goal was to build stronger ties and create collaboration opportunities in the tourism sector between India and Sri Lanka.

India remains Sri Lanka’s top source market, accounting for 20% of tourist arrivals. Between January and 31st May 2025, Sri Lanka welcomed 1,029,803 tourists, with 204,060 from India. Tourism earnings have already surpassed USD 1.54 billion in the first half of 2025.

Adding colour to the events, a Sri Lankan cultural dance troupe performed, showcasing the island’s rich traditions and heritage.

Through dialogues and presentations, the roadshows highlighted Sri Lanka’s “breath-taking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality,” aiming to encourage repeat visits. Attendees experienced glimpses of Sri Lanka’s attractions, from pristine beaches to ancient temples, marking a new chapter of tourism excellence for the island nation.
