From her Arangetram in Bharatanatyam to commanding audiences of thousands across the globe, Drashti Vajar is a name that reverberates with energy, versatility, and enduring charm. With over a decade in the industry as an anchor, emcee, voice-over artist, and TV host, she’s carved a niche that beautifully blends performance with personality.
Currently featured in the 11th edition of Entertainers Connect by EVENTFAQS Media, Drashti brings with her a portfolio of elite projects, a shelf of accolades, and a heart still beating for the stage. In this candid conversation, she opens up about her journey, inspirations, and what lies ahead.
1) What does being a part of the 11th Entertainers Connect mean to you? And how do you see it levelling up your work and boosting your presence in the industry?
I am delighted to be acknowledged among the nation’s top talents. This platform bridges the gap between artists and talent acquisition. I am eager to broaden my network and look forward to engaging in remarkable projects.
2) What inspired you to choose this path as your profession? And now that you’ve spent time in the industry, what shifts or positive differences have you witnessed over time?
The stage is my World!! After completing my Arangetram in Bharatanatyam and gaining experience in commercial theatre, I embraced anchoring and emceeing as my full-time career, despite it being regarded as an unconventional choice. Recognizing that oratory was one of my greatest strengths, I committed to this path. Over the past 15 years, I have observed the evolution of the live entertainment sector, which now encompasses a diverse array of events and has become a thriving industry.
3) How do you stay relevant and innovative in such a dynamic and evolving entertainment industry?
I go by the tagline “a_vision_in_voice”. So with the right mindset and approach, one can stay ahead of the curve and continuously work towards growing in a career with industry trends, including attending conferences and events (this is my second year at WOW), reading publications and blogs, and networking with industry peers. Embracing change, thinking out of the box using creativity to fill the gap & being open to learning from this ever-evolving industry.
4) What’s next for you? Are there any specific projects, formats, or collaborations you’re aiming to explore?
The financial year 2024-2025 marked a significant advancement of IPs, Festivals, and Concerts within the realm of live events. As a live performer and emcee, I had the honour of being the preferred emcee for notable projects such as:
- Aditya Gadhvi Live In Concert, Nesco Events (2024-25)
- Rangilo Re – Navratri with Parthiv Gohil, Nesco Events (2018-25)
- Shaan Live In Concert, ISOT Ahmedabad, Eventmas
- An Evening with Krishna, Madhava’s Rock Band
- Rang Utsaav Holi featuring DJ Chetas, Emergence
- And the upcoming Jigardan Gadhvi Live In Concert, Nesco Events
In addition, I participated in various distinguished corporate and wedding events, & WOW Awards Asia & Entertainer’s Connect Award was the cherry on top. Looking forward to another year filled with opportunities and prosperity.
5) What’s your go-to trick for winning over a tough crowd? Do you have a mantra or phrase that you say to yourself before every performance?
Wittiness of an artist who can use humour and clever remarks in their delivery, staying relevant…
My ability to entertain & the knack of storytelling, which I have learnt over the years.
This style can help engage the audience more effectively…
5 mins of silence, to set the tone internally, a quick chant of “Swaminarayan Mahamantra”
which reflects my faith and empowers me to overcome any challenge effectively.
6) What advice or message would you give to aspiring artists?
Once an artist, always an artist. Take your art seriously; follow your dreams… The stage is open; welcome!
