STAR, a name that resonates with electrifying energy and musical brilliance, has been a game-changer in the entertainment industry for over 18 years. From performing at major events like IPL Extra Innings T20 to founding the largest DJ school chain in India, STAR has truly carved a niche for himself. As he gears up for his appearance at Entertainers Connect at the WOW Awards Asia 2025, EVENTFAQS Media caught up with him to learn more about his journey, inspirations, and future plans.
1. What does being a part of the 11th edition of Entertainers Connect mean to you? How do you see it levelling up your work and boosting your presence in the industry?
Being a part of the 11th edition of Entertainers Connect places me among some of the country’s most talented and influential performers. The level of exposure, collaboration, and credibility that such a prestigious platform offers is simply unparalleled. I am genuinely proud and excited about this association. I am confident that it will not only elevate my work but also significantly boost my presence in the entertainment industry. I look forward to making meaningful connections, growing creatively, and contributing to this vibrant community.
2. What inspired you to choose this path as your profession? Now that you’ve spent time in the industry, what shifts or positive differences have you witnessed over time?
Coming from a musical background, I was drawn to music from a young age. I received classical music training as a child, but no instrument fascinated me as much as turntables and DJing. I began my early career working at a DJ institute and eventually launched my own chain of DJ schools. A major turning point came when I became the official DJ for IPL Extra Innings T20, one of the country’s biggest entertainment events, which significantly elevated my career. It introduced me to the world of corporate and sports events, where I performed extensively over the following years. In 2019, I transitioned full-time into wedding entertainment, and I have been thoroughly enjoying the journey ever since.
Having spent 18 years in the industry, I have witnessed a paradigm shift in how performers are perceived and how the craft is presented. The evolution goes far beyond the shift from analog to digital; it’s about a complete transformation in presentation and branding. Audiences today have greater respect for entertainers and musicians, thanks to increased exposure to global sounds and artists. On an industry level, the surge in collaborations is exciting to see, and I believe the future holds tremendous growth potential, driven by advancing technologies and expanding global opportunities.

3. How do you stay relevant and innovative in such a dynamic and evolving entertainment industry?
Having been a teacher throughout my career, I have always emphasized to my students the importance of continuous innovation and never settling for the ordinary. As an artist, it’s essential to keep exploring new dimensions and staying updated with global trends. While India is heavily influenced by Western music, it’s equally important to recognize that a significant portion of the audience still deeply connects with Bollywood-style music. Striking a balance between global sounds and our local cultural flavor is key to carving out a unique space.
My team and I are constantly brainstorming and experimenting with fresh ideas — concepts that are globally relevant, creatively exciting, and practical to execute. This approach allows us to stay dynamic, evolve with the industry, and deliver experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.
4. What’s next for you? Are there any specific projects, formats, or collaborations you’re aiming to explore?
Absolutely! I’ve been deeply focused on enhancing my singing skills and combining them with music production to create a new, refreshing sound for my live project, STAR. To make this vision even bigger, I’ve teamed up with a powerhouse group of visual artists, musicians, and sound designers. We’re gearing up to launch an all-new live set in the upcoming season — a full sensory experience that brings together sound, visuals, and energy like never before. I’m incredibly excited about this next chapter!
5. What’s your go-to trick for winning over a tough crowd? Do you have a mantra or phrase that you say to yourself before every performance?
Every audience is unique, but I believe that around 80% of the content I create can be applied universally. The remaining 20% comes from reading the crowd live — observing their energy, adapting in the moment, and improvising based on their feedback. I’ve been blessed with strong communication skills, and my experience in emceeing has always helped me build a real bond with the audience, eventually leading them to the dance floor.
Before every performance, I have a simple ritual: I seek blessings from the stage, remember my gurus, my father, and Lord Shiva. A few minutes of meditation and breath control help me clear my mind and center my focus. I stay away from alcohol and maintain a vegetarian lifestyle, which I believe gives me sharper focus and energy on stage — essential for the constant interaction and improvisation my sets demand.
6. What advice or message would you give to aspiring artists?
Every journey begins with a dream — and every dream carries a purpose meant just for you. My advice to aspiring artists is simple: work relentlessly, stay loyal to your craft, and don’t get distracted by chasing money or glamour. Success will follow if you focus on becoming exceptional at what you love. They say hard work beats talent — and I believe that when you combine both, you have the power to write your own legacy.
