The Department of Tourism is all set to host the Heritage Festival in Saligao from May 9 to May 11, 2025. This three-day event will celebrate Goa’s rich cultural roots through music, folk dance, fashion, and live performances.
Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, said, “The Heritage Festival in Saligao is a showcase of Goa’s living traditions, artistic expression, and the vibrant spirit of our communities. Through such festivals, we aim to create deeper awareness of Goa’s cultural identity and support regenerative tourism that uplifts our people, preserves our heritage, and boosts the local economy.” The Director also hopes the event will support local self-help groups and offer a large platform to promote Goan heritage and culture.
The festival will begin on May 9, with an evening of traditional Goan music, followed by an inauguration and felicitation ceremony. The night will include performances by the Kanta Gaude Troupe, featuring the Lamp Dance and Dekhni, and a fashion show by Verma Dmello, ending with live music from Sidhannath Buyao & Band.
On May 10, the festival continues with more folk dances like Goff and Veerbhadra by the Kanta Gaude Troupe. The night will also feature a performance by RAGA – The Band, more felicitations, and a live set by Sonia Sirsat & Band.
The final day May 11, will once again feature traditional Goan music. The Kanta Gaude Troupe will perform Jagor and Corridinho, a dance with Portuguese influence. The festival will end with performances by the RASM Band and Black Sapphire Band.
This festival is a major effort to preserve Goa’s cultural heritage while giving locals and visitors a chance to enjoy authentic Goan traditions and entertainment.
